Mkulima King of Satire reacts to Kenya’s booming BBL culture

Mkulima King of Satire has expressed concern over the rising wave of BBL procedures and other body enhancements in Kenya.
Speaking about the fast-growing trend on Thursday, November 27, 2025, he said millennials are changing their bodies too quickly and too drastically, creating pressure that not everyone can keep up with.
He explained that he has no problem with anyone choosing what to add or remove from their body, but he questioned how fair it is to expect others to match the same standards when many cannot afford such procedures.

Mkulima said, “Why millennials need to be stopped.
“Mtu jana alikua na vitambi mbili, unampata hana chochote, hana, ni flat, hakuna. Wengine wanaongezea midomo. Mimi sina shida na kile mtu anaongezea lakini swali yangu ni moja. Kuna wale hawana milioni moja ya kufanya hiyo kazi, you expect to play the same game, how?”
Concerns over body enhancement trends
His remarks come at a time when conversations around BBLs, liposuction and body modifications are becoming more frequent in Kenya. Many public figures and influencers have shared their procedures openly, a move that has created mixed reactions.
Mkulima’s comments point to the widening gap between those who can pay for expensive cosmetic procedures and those who cannot, yet still feel pressured to look the same.

He questioned why society expects people to compete with body standards that are now being bought rather than naturally achieved. In his view, the sudden changes in appearance, from larger hips to flatter stomachs, are happening so fast that they create unrealistic expectations for others who do not have the same means.
Lilian Ng’ang’a also shared her thoughts today on the same issue. Her message focused on how young women in their 20s now dislike their bodies to the point of taking risky measures, something she said was not common during her time.
She wrote that in her 20s, she and her peers were “skinny, young girls just enjoying life” and questioned what had changed.
