Kabugi calls on Gachagua to assist with KK Mwenyewe’s funeral
Digital content creator and comedian Kabugi has formally urged former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to step up and help provide a dignified send-off for the late Zakariah Kariuki, widely known as KK Mwenyewe.
KK Mwenyewe, celebrated for his sharp political satire and viral impersonations of Gachagua, passed away on July 14, 2025, after a brief illness at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.

KK Mwenyewe rose to fame in 2022 through viral videos mimicking Gachagua, often donning oversized suits and humorous mannerisms that mirrored the former deputy president.
Gachagua eulogy
This request comes days after the second deputy president eulogised the late comedian, describing him as a gifted satirist and inspiration to many young Kenyans.
In a statement shared on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, Gachagua expressed deep sorrow over Kariuki’s passing, saying: “I have this morning woken up to the sad demise of Mr Zachariah Kariuki, alias Mr KK Mwenyewe, a content creator par excellence and inspiration to many.”
“Mr KK, a young, consistent, and resilient young man, used comedy to communicate simple and creative messages to all Kenyans and spoke to our hearts,” he added.
Gachagua extended his sympathies to the family, friends and Kenya’s creative community, noting, “I especially condole the creative industry on the loss of a champion whose creative eye lives with us for days to come. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and God grant his family peace.”
Death
KK Mwenyewe, died while receiving treatment at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.
According to Kafengo, KK Mwenyewe died on Monday, July 15, 2025, while undergoing treatment at the Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.
“We Are Heartbroken To Announce The Sudden Demise Of Zakaria Kariuki, a.k.a. Kk Mwenyewe. He passed away yesterday evening while undergoing medical attention at Kiambu Level 5 Hospital,” he announced.
In his condolence message, Kafengo has called on Kenyans for their support and prayers during this difficult time.
“During these sad moments, we ask for support and prayers for the family and friends. May God give us strength at these difficult Times. May His Soul Rest In Peace,” he added.
