Gachagua makes prayer for his lookalike Cyrus, asks Kenyans to comment on their resemblance

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked God to remember his viral lookalike Cyrus Kinuthia, popularly known as RiggyG Junior, while asking Kenyans to give an honest verdict on whether the two resemble each other.

In a Facebook post on Monday, September 7, 2026, Gachagua said he was pleased to meet Cyrus during the Maa Culture Evening engagement, identifying him as a Kenyan from Kikuyu in Kiambu County who now lives and works in Seattle.

The former Deputy President described Cyrus as a vibrant social media enthusiast and noted that many people believe the two resemble each other.

‘On the sidelines of the Maa Culture Evening engagement, I was pleased to meet Cyrus Kinuthia, aka RiggyG Junior, from Kikuyu in Kiambu County, who lives and works in Seattle,” he wrote.

Gachagua then posed the question that has accompanied Cyrus’s sudden rise to online fame, asking Kenyans to make their own judgement on whether the two men actually look alike.

“What do you think? Do we look alike?” Gachagua asked.

He also wished Cyrus well as he continues living and working in the United States, ending his message with a prayer for the viral lookalike.

“I wish Cyrus all the best and God’s blessings,” Gachagua said.

Cyrus’s moment of fame

Gachagua’s remarks come after Cyrus attracted widespread attention among Kenyans in the United States over his striking resemblance to the former Deputy President.

The Kenyan living in Seattle first went viral after attending a Mugithi country music event, where fellow attendees began stopping to marvel at his facial features and repeatedly compared him to Gachagua.

Cyrus was dressed in a broad brown cowboy hat, a plaid button-down shirt and brown trousers during the outdoor diaspora event, with his facial features and cheerful demeanour drawing immediate comparisons to the former Deputy President.

Some attendees openly shouted that he looked like Gachagua, with others calling him “DP” and questioning why he resembled the politician so closely.

“Huyu jamaa anafanana na Gachagua bwana!” one attendee was heard saying, while others exclaimed “Huyu ni Gachagua!” and asked Cyrus, “Mbona unafanana na Gachagua?”

The comparisons quickly spread online, with social media users adopting the nickname “Gachagua Mdogo” as photos and videos of the Seattle-based Kenyan circulated across platforms.

The resemblance also caught the attention of former Machachari actor Malik Lemmy, who is also in the United States and encountered Cyrus at the same event.

Lemmy shared a selfie with the viral lookalike on his Instagram Stories and captioned the photograph “Truthful man!!!” as the unusual resemblance continued to attract attention.

Cyrus has since continued sharing glimpses of his life in the United States on social media, where the attention surrounding his resemblance to Gachagua has significantly raised his online profile.

In a TikTok post shared on Monday, August 24, 2026, Cyrus showcased his surroundings in the United States, posing outside a spacious white bungalow alongside a black SUV while dressed in a white T-shirt, jeans and a cowboy hat.

He has also used his social media platforms to promote businesses, projects and side hustles, encouraging his followers and potential clients to make use of opportunities rather than waiting for the perfect moment.
