In pictures: How Gachagua spent quality time with his look-alike in the US

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has finally met his viral look-alike, Cyrus Kinuthia Ndung’u, popularly known as King Cyrus or Riggy G Junior, during his visit to the United States.

The two met on the sidelines of a Maa Culture Evening engagement in Washington State on Monday, September 7, 2026, where they exchanged greetings, shared laughs and posed for photographs.

The meeting was more than a brief photo opportunity. Gachagua and Kinuthia later spent time together at a house with other guests, where they shared a meal and interacted in a relaxed setting.

Kinuthia, who comes from Kikuyu in Kiambu County and lives and works in Seattle, has become a social media sensation because of his striking resemblance to Gachagua.

From viral videos to meeting Gachagua

Kinuthia first attracted widespread attention in August after videos of him at a Kenyan diaspora event circulated online.

Kenyans quickly pointed out similarities in his facial features, smile and build. His cowboy hat and clothing, which resembled some of Gachagua’s familiar public styles, further fuelled the comparisons.

His resemblance was not limited to his appearance. Videos of Kinuthia also showed him mimicking some of Gachagua’s mannerisms, adding another layer to the comparisons that made him go viral.

He was subsequently nicknamed “Riggy G Junior” and “Gachagua Mdogo” by Kenyans online.

After meeting Kinuthia, Gachagua shared photos of the encounter on Facebook and X, leaving Kenyans to decide whether the two really look alike.

“On the sidelines of the Maa Culture Evening engagement, I was pleased to meet Cyrus Kinuthia, aka RiggyG Junior, from Kikuyu in Kiambu County, who lives and works in Seattle. Cyrus is a vibrant social media enthusiast, and many people believe we resemble each other. What do you think? Do we look alike? I wish Cyrus all the best and God’s blessings,” Gachagua wrote.

Photos from the encounter showed the two men standing face-to-face, laughing and shaking hands before turning towards the cameras.

Gachagua wore a dark quilted jacket, a patterned shirt and a black brimmed hat, with a checkered Maasai shuka draped over his shoulder. He also carried his walking stick.

Kinuthia wore a checkered shirt, a blue-and-yellow shuka and a wide-brimmed brown cowboy hat, a style that has become part of his viral image.

The pair later continued their interaction away from the public gathering, spending time at a house with other guests and sharing a meal.
