Muhoozi defends Bebe Cool and warns critics against attacking him

Ugandan military officer and presidential adviser Muhoozi Kainerugaba has come to the defence of musician Bebe Cool after the singer faced attacks from some figures in Uganda’s music and media circles.

Muhoozi said Bebe Cool called him on the morning of Monday. September 14, 2026, to brief him about the situation, prompting him to appeal to those involved to refrain from attacking the musician.

“My brother Bebe Cool called me this morning and told me they are some comrades of ours in the music and media sectors who have been attacking him recently,” Muhoozi said.

He urged those involved to stop targeting the musician while suggesting that any disagreements could be addressed peacefully.

“Please do not attack my young brother. Whatever issues they are we shall manage peacefully,” he added.

Muhoozi’s remarks appeared aimed at calming tensions surrounding the singer while making it clear that he would prefer any disagreements involving Bebe Cool to be resolved without further confrontation.

Who is Bebe Cool?

Bebe Cool, whose real name is Moses Ssali, is one of Uganda’s most prominent musicians and has enjoyed a career spanning several decades.

The singer is widely recognised as one of the pioneers of Uganda’s modern reggae and ragga music scene and has built a strong following both in Uganda and across East Africa.

He rose to prominence in the 1990s and has released numerous songs during his career, establishing himself as a major figure in Uganda’s entertainment industry.

Bebe Cool has also collaborated with several African and international artistes throughout his career and has remained active in Uganda’s music scene.

Beyond music, the singer has frequently been involved in public conversations on social and political issues, making him a prominent personality beyond the entertainment industry.

Muhoozi on Bebe Cool’s situation

Muhoozi’s latest comments come as Bebe Cool remains active in the public eye, with his career and outspoken nature often drawing attention from fans and fellow personalities.

The military officer did not identify the individuals he said had been attacking Bebe Cool, nor did he provide details about the issues behind the reported disagreements.

Instead, Muhoozi called for restraint and indicated that the matter could be handled peacefully.

His appeal also highlighted his personal relationship with Bebe Cool, whom he referred to as his “young brother”.

The remarks have since drawn attention among Ugandan entertainment and social media audiences, with Muhoozi’s intervention adding a new dimension to the developing dispute.
