Actor Baha: I refuse to overplay my part in relationships

Former Machachari actor Kamau Mbaya, popularly known as Baha, has opened up about relationships, saying he is no longer willing to put in more effort than the people around him.
Baha shared the reflection while addressing how he approaches his relationships with other people, emphasising the importance of reciprocity and setting boundaries.
“My relationship with anyone is literally a mirror of how you treat me,” Baha said on Monday, September 14,2026.
The actor explained that he has reached a point where he is choosing not to overextend himself in relationships, suggesting that how he treats people is influenced by how they treat him.
“I refuse to overplay my part anymore,” he stated.
His remarks point to a shift towards protecting his energy and ensuring that his efforts in relationships are not one-sided.
Baha also spoke about the vulnerability that can come with having a good heart, warning that kindness can sometimes leave people open to being taken advantage of.
“People take advantage of the good-hearted,” he said.

The actor’s comments have resonated with a familiar experience in relationships, where one person may feel they are consistently giving more time, attention or effort than they receive in return.
Rather than continuing to overextend himself, Baha appears to be advocating for a more balanced approach, where the treatment people receive reflects the way they treat others.
His comments also highlight the importance of recognising when a relationship has become one-sided. For some people, constantly making sacrifices, initiating communication or being available without receiving similar effort can eventually lead to frustration and emotional exhaustion.
Baha’s statement comes as conversations around boundaries and reciprocity continue to feature prominently in discussions about friendships, romantic relationships and other personal connections.

His message is ultimately centred on knowing when to step back and refusing to allow a willingness to care for others to become a reason for being taken for granted.
By describing his relationships as a “mirror”, Baha suggests that he intends to give people the same level of energy and consideration that he receives from them.
For the actor, the message is clear: a good heart should not mean continually overextending yourself for people who do not offer the same level of care in return.
