“I wish you were here” – King Kaka pens heartbreaking tribute to late father 25 years on
Multitalented Kenyan rapper Kennedy Ombima, famously known as King Kaka, has remembered his late father in an emotional tribute.
Taking to his official on Friday, November 21, 2025, King Kaka, marking 25 years since the passing of his father, shared an emotional and heartfelt message and a song he dedicated to him years ago, featuring Elani, dubbed ‘Baba‘.
In his heartfelt tribute, the rapper reflected on the many challenges he has faced without his father, admitting that there were countless moments when he wished he could pick up the phone and call him.

“Dear Dad, can’t believe it’s 25 years today, and I promise you I’ve made you proud. They call me King, but I have to admit so many times it got tough, so many times I wished you were here, so many times I need to just call someone,” he wrote.
The Kaka empire CEO also spoke about his commitment to caring for his father’s family, ensuring that his mother is happy and providing for those left behind.
He proudly updated his late dad about the grandchildren he now has.
“I am taking care of your family; your wife is happy I built her a big a#% house, and ohh, you got grandkids now.” King Kaka shared.

He went on to express the simple wish he had for the day, noting the absence of his father.
“I would have wished for a lunch date today. I mean, is that too much to ask for? But God had plans. I soldier on. Keep resting, if only,” he added.

King Kaka’s tribute is a reminder of the enduring bond between a parent and child and the strength it takes to continue honouring their legacy while building a life that would make them proud.
As he continues to thrive in his music and entrepreneurial ventures, King Kaka’s message reflects resilience, love, and a deep sense of responsibility toward family values he credits to the lessons learnt from his late father.
