Biker Brayo reacts after Babu Owino reveals he watches his videos

Popular city biker Brayo was left elated after Embakasi East MP Babu Owino revealed that he watches his videos and praised his work promoting road safety among boda boda riders.
Speaking in a video shared on TikTok on Thursday, September 17, 2026, Brayo narrated his encounter with the legislator, who is also seeking to become Nairobi governor in the 2027 General Election, as the two discussed his famous helmet, road safety and the welfare of boda boda riders.
Brayo appeared excited to meet Babu, warmly welcoming the opportunity to interact with the politician and expressing his happiness at seeing him in person.
“I am doing well, and I am so happy to meet and see you, boss,” Brayo said.
Babu, however, revealed that he was already familiar with Brayo’s work, telling the popular biker that he and others regularly watch his videos.
“Thanks, and it is okay. We watch you, and we see you, and you are so fire, and your work is good. Welcome here,” Babu said.
The revelation appeared to delight Brayo, who has built a strong following through his distinctive videos and become one of Nairobi’s most recognisable city bikers.
Babu then turned his attention to another feature that has become almost inseparable from Brayo’s public identity: his helmet.
The Embakasi East MP jokingly asked whether Brayo ever takes the helmet off, saying he had heard that the biker even keeps it on while sleeping.
“I am doing well, but I also wonder whether you usually remove this helmet. I hear even while sleeping you have it on. Even when you are with your wife, it is still on,” Babu said.
Brayo responded by admitting that he rarely removes the helmet, revealing that the habit has become so familiar that even his wife is now accustomed to seeing him wearing it.
“Yes, I seldom remove the helmet. Even my wife is used to it, haha,” Brayo said.
But Brayo revealed that his decision to keep the helmet on is tied to a bigger message he has been trying to push through his platform.
The popular biker explained that he has made a personal promise to remove the helmet once boda boda riders embrace helmet use for their own safety.
“But I said I will remove it when all boda boda riders start wearing helmets for safety. It is a safety thing I am pushing,” Brayo said.
He explained that the campaign was driven by his concern over the number of boda boda riders and passengers who are involved in accidents and subsequently lose their lives or suffer serious injuries.
“Because I do not love how people are getting accidents and then dying because of not wearing helmets,” he added.
Brayo has consequently turned his distinctive appearance into part of a broader road safety message, using the helmet to draw attention to the importance of protective gear among motorcycle users.
Babu appeared to support the message, pointing to the high number of deaths associated with boda boda accidents and the severity of injuries that can result when riders fail to wear helmets.
“You see, even if you look at the statistics of how many people are dying here in Kenya because of boda boda accidents, it is very high,” Babu said.
He further explained that the absence of helmets can leave riders and passengers exposed to particularly serious injuries when accidents occur.
“And mostly it is because if you do not have a helmet, the injuries you get after such an accident are much worse,” he said.
Babu then praised Brayo for using his popularity to push the road safety message, telling him that his efforts had caught his attention.
“You are doing an amazing job. I personally love you. I see how you are pushing for road safety. That is good, as those are some of the things we are pushing for ourselves,” Babu said.
The meeting also gave Brayo an opportunity to raise issues affecting boda boda riders, particularly their livelihoods and the need for policies that would allow them to improve their lives.
Turning to Babu’s political ambitions, Brayo asked him to remember the boda boda community if he succeeds in his bid to become Nairobi governor.
“And also when you get the governorship, help my people, the boda boda riders, so they can also move ahead in life so we can also have rules that favour us,” Brayo said.
