DJ Shiti’s father dies after 7 year battle with cancer

Comedian and actor DJ Shiti has announced the death of his father, Richard Ndede Mbanda, following a seven-year battle with cancer.

DJ Shiti shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram on Thursday, September 17, 2026, alongside snippets capturing some of the memorable moments he shared with his father.

The comedian said his father died in the morning after living with cancer for seven years.

“My Old Man Joined his Ancestors Yesterday Morning, After Battling Cancer for 7 years,” DJ Shiti wrote.

The comedian mourned his father while reflecting on the long battle with the disease, expressing hope that cancer would eventually be defeated.

“One day cancer will also die,” he added.

He concluded his tribute with a message asking for his father to rest in power.

“Rest in power, Omwami Richard Ndede Mbanda,” he wrote.

Friends send condolences

Following the announcement, friends, fellow entertainers and fans took to the comments section to console the comedian and his family.

Comedian and media personality Dr Ofweneke was among those who sent a message of comfort to DJ Shiti.

“My condolences, bro!! Comfort……” Dr Ofweneke wrote.

Other commenters also offered words of encouragement, with OmatO telling the comedian, “Take heart mkubwa.”

Okeyo Erick Okeyo wrote, “Sorry for your loss,” while Fellow entertainer Nick Kwach shared, “Pole sana owadwa.”
