Kenyan socialite Huddah Monroe has suggested a strategy to outsmart the anti-riot police ahead of the highly anticipated anti-government protests.

Through her Instagram story, Huddah advised her followers to skip the planned protests on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, and instead gather the following day.

The socialite said her plan would catch the police off-guard as they would be prepared for the protests on Tuesday.

“We should post like this & not show up tomorrow & instead show up on Wednesday! Coz tomorrow they’ll be ready for us. Let the anti-riot police show up tomorrow and talk to themselves. Then Wednesday we go full-blown! 10 million strong,” Huddah wrote.

Tuesday protests

Kenyan youth declared July 16, 2024, a public holiday to honour the young Kenyans killed during the anti-Finance Bill protests.

To pay tribute to the departed, Gen Z announced on social media that they will organize a massive demonstration on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, to remember those who sacrificed their lives.

Gen Z urged Kenyans to gather in large numbers in Nairobi, carrying flags to celebrate the third liberation heroes who have lost their lives.

This announcement came amid President William Ruto’s firm stance that he will not resign despite the youth calling for his resignation due to allegations of poor governance and corruption.

Ruto warns protesters

In a past address, Ruto stated that those calling for his resignation should wait for the 2027 elections to attempt to remove him through the ballot.

“Nataka tuelewe ya kwamba vile tunasonga mbele ni kuhakikisha ya kwamba kila kiongozi; kila mmoja wetu, tujue ya kwamba pale 2027 tutafanya mtihani na hawa wananchi na kila mtu atakuja na kazi yake amefanya,” Ruto said.

Adding;

“So hakuna haja ya kusumbuana hapa katikati; wacha tungoje hii mtihani, kila mtu afanye mtihani tuone nani ni wa kupita na nani ni wa kuanguka.”
