Huddah Monroe: I would rather remain single than marry a Kenyan man

Socialite Huddah Monroe has explained why she would rather remain single than marry a Kenyan man, criticising what she described as the way some men approach and interact with her.

In a TikTok video on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, Monroe said she is accustomed to environments where men are more formal and respectful when initiating conversations with women.

“You know, I’m used to being in environments where men actually ask for permission to speak to you. Excuse me, ma’am, permission to speak freely,” she said.

According to Monroe, such an approach gives a woman the opportunity to decide whether she wants to engage in a conversation.

She contrasted this with what she described as her experiences with some Kenyan men, saying they sometimes approach her as though they have known her for years.

Monroe said she is often uncomfortable when men approach her and assume she remembers them simply because they may have met in the past.

“If I don’t live with you, I haven’t seen you in ten years, twenty years, I do not remember you,” she said.

She added that even when she decides to be polite and engage in a conversation, the interaction can sometimes take an uncomfortable turn.

Huddah asks Kenyan men not to greet her

Monroe claimed that some men eventually make comments she considers disrespectful or inappropriate, leaving her questioning how they were raised.

“And even if you’re nice and engage in a conversation with them, these…. will still end up disrespecting you. They will say something that is just disgusting,” she said.

The socialite went further by asking Kenyan men to keep their distance when they see her in public.

“So please, msinisalime. Mkiniona mahali, wache ikae,” she said, meaning that men should not greet her and should instead leave her alone.

She has also made it clear that marriage is not something she would pursue simply for the sake of being married, saying she would rather remain single than enter a marriage with a Kenyan man.
