Comedian Eric Omondi has backed Harambee Stars to edge out Morocco in their decisive CHAN 2024 Group A clash, predicting a 1-0 victory.

Speaking outside Kasarani Stadium on Sunday, August 10, 2025, Omondi said Morocco is a dangerous side but insisted Kenya has what it takes to progress.

Morocco team ni hatari, but the worst tutapata ni draw ama tuwapige 1-0 ama 2-1,” he said. “Hii game ya Angola tulishinda hata kama tulikua 10-man. Nimeongelesha McCarthy aingize watu wawili wa rugby Omanyala na Khayange na mimi naomba niingizwe dakika kumi,” he joked.

Omondi also urged fans to turn up in large numbers and cheer on the national side. “Kujeni tushangilie team yetu ata tukishindwa… lakini hatuezi shindwa,” he said, adding that the players needed the full backing of Kenyans in the stands to finish the job.

Kenya eyeing historic qualification

Harambee Stars will be looking to become the second nation to qualify for the quarter-finals of CHAN 2024 when they face Morocco in the high-stakes encounter.

Kenya sits atop Group A with four points after a 1-0 win over the Democratic Republic of Congo and a 1-1 draw against Angola despite playing over 70 minutes with 10 men.

Morocco formidable test

Morocco, second in the group with three points from just one game, impressed in their 2-0 win over Angola. A victory for Kenya would guarantee progression to the last eight regardless of other results, while a draw would still keep them in pole position.

A defeat, however, would throw the group wide open with DR Congo and Angola still in the race.
