Is this how you do it? Apostle Joshua Selman urges Rhema Feast attendees to cheer Ruto

Nigerian preacher and Koinonia Ministries founder Apostle Joshua Selman urged thousands of worshippers at Uhuru Park to show President William Ruto greater honour during the final day of Rhema Feast, challenging the crowd to demonstrate that Kenyans are a people who know how to honour their leaders.
Speaking at the Christian gathering on Friday, September 4, 2026, Selman turned his attention to Ruto and First Lady Rachael Ruto, saying he wanted to honour and celebrate the President before thanking the couple for attending the highly anticipated event.
He then challenged the congregation to respond more enthusiastically in honour of the President, asking whether the reaction they had given was befitting of the country’s Head of State.
“Is this how you honour your president? Come on, Kenya. We are people of honour. We honour you, sir. Hallelujah,” Selman said.
The preacher subsequently invoked scripture while speaking about the nation, reminding worshippers of the biblical declaration that a nation is blessed when its God is the Lord.
“The Bible says blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,” he said.
Before honouring the President, Selman had asked the charged congregation to minimise the noise, explaining that although he understood they were rejoicing, he wanted them to create an atmosphere in which they could properly receive the message he believed God had prepared for them.
“Let me make a simple request. If it is possible to minimise the noise. It is a simple request. I will require your silence. I know we are rejoicing. But I would like minimal whistles and sounds so we can receive what God has for us,” he said.
Selman also used his opening remarks to recognise Reverend Julian Kyula, the convener of Rhema Feast, whom he described as a dear friend and brother and praised as a true apostle of transformation.
He further likened Kyula’s ministry to the biblical spirit of Nehemiah, telling the congregation that he deeply honoured and loved the Ruach Assemblies founder.
“First I would like to appreciate the convener of this convergence, a dear friend. We truly honour you, a true apostle of transformation, one who bears the spirit of Nehemiah. My friend and brother, Reverend Julian Kyula. We honour and we love you,” Selman said.
The Nigerian preacher also recognised Dominion City Worldwide founder and Senior Pastor David Ogbueli, who had ministered before him during the gathering, asking worshippers whether they had been blessed by his message.
“I also want to honour Dr David Ogbueli. How many of you were blessed? We honour you sincerely,” Selman said.
Selman’s remarks came as he returned to the Rhema Feast stage on Friday for the second consecutive day, having ministered during the fourth day of the gathering on Thursday, September 3.
His appearance on Thursday had been one of the most anticipated moments of the convention, with hundreds of worshippers raising their mobile phones and switching on their torches as he made his way to the stage.
The illuminated phones created a striking spectacle at Uhuru Park, with cheers and jubilation sweeping through the crowd as the highly anticipated Nigerian preacher finally appeared.
Selman took to the stage after Apostle Grace Lubega had ministered, followed by David Ogbueli, with confetti cascading through the air as worshippers celebrated his arrival and captured the moment on their phones.
During his Thursday ministry, Selman urged believers to overcome what he described as the spirit of insignificance, challenging them to understand that their value to God goes beyond simply being saved.
He explained that believers should continue undergoing transformation until they become witnesses, arguing that becoming an ambassador makes an individual an advantage to God and enables them to play a meaningful role in His programme.
“We must deliver ourselves from the spirit of insignificance. The real value of a person to God is not in being saved but being transformed till he becomes a witness. When you become an ambassador you become an advantage to God,” Selman said.
He further reminded the congregation that every believer has a role to play in God’s programme before leading them in a declaration of their identity and purpose.
“I have a role to play in God’s programme. All here today say I am light, I am salt,” he declared.
What is Rhema Feast?
Rhema Feast 2026 is a five-day Christian gathering being held at Uhuru Park in Nairobi from Monday, August 31, to Friday, September 4, 2026, under the theme “Come, Let Us Rebuild”.
The gathering is convened by Ruach Assemblies founder and Senior Pastor Reverend Julian Kyula and traces its roots to 2015, when it was founded under RUACH Assemblies, a ministry of The Purpose Centre Church.
The opening day on Monday, August 31, featured Bishop JB Masinde, Lady Bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo, Minister Ntokozo Mbambo and Minister Njoki Munyi.
Day Two on Tuesday, September 1, saw Apostle Isi Igenegba, Lady Bishop Kathy Kiuna, Minister Dr Tumi, Lady Bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo and Apostle Michael Orokpo take the stage.
The third day on Wednesday, September 2, featured Reverend Julian Kyula, Apostle Mignonne Kabera, Apostle Michael Orokpo, Bishop JB Masinde, Apostle Felix Okoh and Apostle Grace Lubega.
Thursday, September 3, saw Apostle Joshua Selman, Minister Sinach, Apostle Mignonne Kabera, Reverend Julian Kyula, Pastor Poju Oyemade and Apostle Felix Okoh minister during the fourth day.
The final day on Friday, September 4, has brought together Apostle Grace Lubega, Reverend Julian Kyula, Pastor T Mwangi, Pastor George Macharia, Minister Dunsin Oyekan, Pastor David Ogbueli, Minister Sinach, Pastor Poju Oyemade, Apostle Lee Wambugu and Joshua Selman.
