Willy Paul steals the show at Kamba Festival after making surprise appearance

Kenyan singer Willy Paul sent the crowd into a frenzy after making a surprise appearance at the Kamba Festival 2026 and treating revellers to a lively performance of some of his popular love songs.
The singer took to the stage on Saturday night, September 19, 2026, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) Nairobi Grounds, where thousands of revellers had gathered for the highly packed cultural and entertainment event.
The festival, themed “Kyathi Ki Ilovi”, brought together leading Kamba artistes, musicians and some of Kenya’s biggest entertainment personalities for a night dedicated to celebrating Kamba culture, music and diversity.
Willy Paul’s appearance came after a series of performances that had already kept the energetic crowd entertained throughout the evening.
Among the earlier performers was Kyeni Band, which took to the stage and set the pace for the night before other popular Kamba artistes followed with their own performances.
The packed audience was treated to a succession of musical performances as the festival continued deep into the night, with revellers singing along, dancing and cheering their favourite artistes.
Kana Nicko was among the artistes who later graced the stage, maintaining the momentum as the crowd continued to enjoy the entertainment on offer.
He was followed by Kalasinga, who brought a different flavour to the event with a highly energetic dance performance that further lifted the mood at the venue.
Kalasinga’s appearance was followed by John Muasa, who took to the stage with his guitar alongside his band and delivered a live musical performance for the revellers.
The entertainment was not limited to music, with comedian Eric Omondi also taking centre stage and leaving the crowd in stitches with a series of comedic lines.
Eric brought his trademark humour to the packed grounds, interacting with the audience and adding a comedic touch to an evening that had largely been dominated by musical performances.
The comedian also played a role in welcoming the event organiser, adding another memorable moment to the proceedings as the festival continued to attract more excitement.
Stephen Kasolo was also among the artistes who headlined the entertainment, taking to the stage before Willy Paul made his much-anticipated appearance.
By the time Willy Paul arrived, the atmosphere at the venue was already highly charged, with the crowd eagerly following every performance on stage.
The singer, however, immediately grabbed attention when he appeared on stage sporting freshly dyed blonde hair and accompanied by a group of dancers.
His striking new look added to the excitement as he made his way onto the stage, with the packed crowd erupting into cheers at the sight of the popular singer.
Willy Paul then launched into some of his well-known love songs, quickly getting the audience singing along as dancers performed around him.
The singer appeared to relish the reception, moving across the stage as the crowd responded with loud cheers and screams throughout his performance.
His set brought a contemporary Kenyan pop flavour to a festival that had largely showcased established and emerging Kamba musicians, giving revellers an opportunity to enjoy a different style of music.
The performance proved to be one of the memorable moments of the night, with the crowd remaining animated as Willy Paul delivered his love songs before eventually leaving the stage.
Following his performance, singer and dancer Ndeke ya Muthanga took over the stage, continuing the entertainment as the festival stretched into the night.
The event had earlier brought together an impressive line-up of Kamba music legends and contemporary artistes, including Ken Wa Maria, Bahati Kenya, Kativui, Maima, Maxwell Bisengo, Vuusya Ungu, Maunda and Kana Nicko.
Hosted by popular content creator Rick Be TV and co-organised alongside Nicholas Kioko, the festival brought together music, comedy and cultural entertainment in an event that ran from the afternoon into the early hours of Sunday.
