Top 10 songs dominating Kenya’s YouTube chart as Willy Paul leads

Willy Paul has taken the lead on Kenya’s YouTube trending music chart with his latest release “Kangaroo/Komosava”, as fresh releases continue to attract strong attention from viewers.
As of Saturday, August 8, 2026, the latest rankings show a mix of Kenyan, Tanzanian and international artistes, with several new songs making a strong impression on the chart.
Willy Paul takes the lead
Willy Paul’s “Kangaroo/Komosava” sits at the top of the latest rankings after its release on July 24, 2026.
The song has made a major jump since the previous chart, where it debuted at No. 6 just a day after its release.
Its rise to the top comes as newer releases continue to compete for attention on the platform.
Maxwell Mwalimu makes a surprise rise
At No. 2 is Kenyan musician Maxwell Mwalimu with “INYAA SYANA”, a Kamba vernacular song released on July 28.
The song’s rapid rise to the top two is surprising, having climbed the chart only days after its release and despite being a vernacular Kamba track.
Its strong performance highlights the continued appetite for vernacular music among Kenyan YouTube audiences, with Mwalimu now competing closely with some of the country’s biggest mainstream and regional artistes.
Harmonise and Darassa follow at No. 3 with “Love Design”, released on July 23.
New releases fill the upper ranks
MAKAMANDA’s “Juu Sana” takes fourth position, while 4Mr Frank White’s “NJORAA” is ranked fifth.
Jay Melody comes in at No. 6 with “Hisia”, followed by Shakira and Burna Boy’s “Dai dai” at No. 7.
The rankings show the strong performance of songs released within the past two weeks, with several new tracks quickly making their way into the Top 10.
Kapitani’s Kitemeo returns
Kapitani’s “Kitemeo” is at No. 8 in the latest rankings, but its current position comes under different circumstances from its earlier chart run.
The song previously climbed to No. 1 in the July 25 rankings after its official video quickly gained traction following its July 23 release.
The original official video was later removed from YouTube, after which the song was uploaded in audio format. The audio version has now entered the latest Top 10 at No. 8.
This means the current ranking does not simply represent a drop from No. 1 to No. 8 for the same YouTube upload. Instead, “Kitemeo” is appearing through a different upload after the original official video was removed.
Despite the change, the song continues to attract enough attention to remain among Kenya’s top 10 trending music entries.
Alex Kasau Katombi and Mbosso round out the list
Alex Kasau Katombi enters the latest Top 10 at No. 9 with “ALEX KASAU KATOMBI-NDUNGA (OFFICIAL AUDIO)”, released on August 5.
Mbosso completes the Top 10 with “Buku Jero (Official Music Video)”, released on August 6.
Both tracks have entered the chart shortly after their releases, highlighting the quick movement taking place on Kenya’s YouTube trending music list.
Familiar songs fall outside the top 10
Ibraah’s “Uhakika (Remix)” featuring Zuchu is ranked 11th, having previously occupied No. 7 on the July 25 chart.
Joyce Wamama’s “Riu Makiri Kuu?” has also slipped from No. 4 to No. 13, while Collo Blue’s “Top Shotta” has moved from No. 3 to No. 14.
The changes show a significant reshuffle compared with the previous ranking, with several songs that featured prominently in the July 25 chart now outside the Top 10.
