Dem Wa Facebook shares heartfelt message as her grandmother is laid to rest

Social media personality and comedienne Dem Wa Facebook has mourned the passing of her beloved grandmother, Respher Aywa Ashuma, in a moving post as she was laid to rest in her rural home in Butere.

Ashuma passed away on August 4, 2025, at the age of 96.

In a post on Facebook on Friday, August 15, 2025, the comedienne shared that saying goodbye was never easy but expressed profound gratitude for the love, wisdom, and strength her grandmother had imparted throughout her life.

She described her grandmother as a queen whose legacy of resilience and grace would live on in every story, every smile, and every shared moment.

She also noted that her grandmother would always remain in their hearts, reflecting the deep bond and enduring influence Ashuma had on the family.

“Today, we lay our beloved grandmother to rest in her peaceful rural home in Butere. Saying goodbye is never easy, but we are grateful for the love, wisdom, and strength she gave us. Rest well, Shosh. You will always be in our hearts. 🕊️🤍🙏…..”

The social media posts were accompanied by poignant images, including one showing Dem Wa Facebook looking visibly sad while carrying a cross.

Another family member stood beside her, holding a framed photograph of Ashuma, highlighting the intimate and emotional farewell.

On the day she died, Dem Wa Facebook reflected on the extraordinary life Ashuma had lived, describing her as a queen who had blessed the family with nearly a century of guidance, joy, and unwavering faith.

She highlighted the legacy of strength and grace her grandmother had left behind, emphasising that it could be seen in every story, every smile, and every shared moment.

Dem Wa Facebook noted that it had been a true blessing to walk through life alongside Ashuma and that her memory would always remain a source of inspiration for the family.
