Moesha Kay appeals for help to raise funds for knee surgery

Kenyan dancer and philanthropist Moesha Kay has appealed for financial support to undergo knee surgery after being diagnosed with two serious conditions affecting her left knee.
Moesha, who is known for her dancing and her efforts to support orphans and other vulnerable members of society, shared her health update on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, while appealing to well-wishers to help her raise funds for treatment.
“I humbly ask you to stand with me during this difficult journey,” Moesha said.
She revealed that she had been diagnosed with Grade 4 chondromalacia patellae and an osteochondral defect in her left knee, conditions that have affected her mobility and left her in need of surgery.
“I have been diagnosed with Grade 4 chondromalacia patellae and an osteochondral defect, and I need surgery to get back on my feet,” she said.

Moesha seeks public support
Moesha said she is hoping to receive support from well-wishers, stressing that even a small contribution would make a difference as she works towards getting the treatment she needs.
“No amount is too small. A prayer, a share or even Ksh 100 means so much,” she said.
The dancer also explained that recovering from the condition would allow her to return to the work she is passionate about, particularly supporting children and elderly people in need.
“I want to heal so I can continue giving hope and caring for orphans, vulnerable children, children undergoing medication, children with special needs and elderly people,” she said.
Moesha has been known for using her platform to support orphans and vulnerable children, making her appeal a personal call for help to regain her mobility and continue with her charitable work.

She provided a PayBill number and account number through which members of the public can contribute towards her medical treatment.
“PAYBILL: 630640 ACCOUNT: 855655. PLEASE HELP ME GET BACK ON MY FEET,” she appealed.
“May Allah bless you abundantly,” she said.

What is chondromalacia patellae?
Chondromalacia patellae is a condition involving damage or softening of the cartilage underneath the kneecap. The cartilage normally helps the kneecap move smoothly over the thigh bone when the knee bends and straightens.
In severe cases, the cartilage can become significantly damaged, potentially causing knee pain, swelling, stiffness and difficulty with activities such as walking, climbing stairs or bending the knee.
An osteochondral defect, meanwhile, refers to damage involving both the cartilage and the underlying bone in a joint. Treatment depends on the severity and location of the damage and may include medication, physiotherapy or surgery.
