President Uhuru Kenyatta has hit back at critics for dragging his mother’s name, former First Lady Mama Ngina, in their “foolish” political bickerings.

This is after Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and his Emurua Dikirr counterpart Johanna Ng’eno referred to members of his family in an attack earlier this week.

Wale watu washenzi wanaenda huko wakitukana mama yangu, waambieni wakatukane mama zao wachaane na mama yangu,” President Kenyatta said in Kikuyu on Wednesday, September 9, after making a stopover at Ruaka in Kiambu County.

The President, who was visiting the area to inspect a road project, said his energies are only focused on development matters and that when his term ends, he will retire peacefully.

Instead of dragging his mother’s name through the mud, the President told the belligerent MPs to “insult their own mothers.”

Ng’eno is already in trouble having been arrested and charged with hate speech in a Nakuru court over his utterances.

On Thursday, Ng’eno was granted Sh1 million cash bail after spending several nights in police cells with his case slated for mention on October 12.

The MPs made the comments angered by the falling-out in the ruling Jubilee Party that has seen the Deputy President William Ruto sidelined in State affairs over his early 2022 General Election politicking.
