Salasya promises to visit Embakasi East and Kiharu for benchmarking after being ranked 7th best performing MP

Mumias East constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has promised to visit Embakasi East and Kiharu constituencies for benchmarking.
This is after a recent poll by Infotrak Research ranked him among the top ten best-performing MPs.
Taking to his official Instagram account on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Salasya stated that he is aiming for the first position after he was ranked seventh.
Embakasi East’s Babu Owino and his Kiharu counterpart Ndindi Nyoro emerged as the first and second, respectively.
Salasya’s reason for benchmarking
Salasya went ahead to state that he will be visiting the constituencies to see what his two counterparts have been doing differently.
“I will be officially visiting Embakasi East constituency and Kiharu constituency to see what they have been able to do that I am not doing at the moment. I must be number 1, and that’s where I belong. I am destined for greatness, and greatness is my portion,” Salasya wrote on Instagram.
The youthful lawmaker further shared a video of him receiving a certificate from Infotrak Research.
Salasya hailed
Salasya on Monday, January 20, stole the show in his constituency as he openly called out President William Ruto’s administration in the president’s presence.
Ruto was in Mumias for the historic commissioning of the first-ever bonus payments to sugarcane farmers, with several dignitaries from Western Kenya in attendance.
Salasya took full advantage of the president’s arrival at his constituency to speak his mind with an interesting rant.
While faulting government systems he deemed faulty, Salasya urged President Ruto to seek better allies, accusing some Kenya Kwanza leaders of ill-advising the Head of State.
“I want us to ask one thing, where is the money we are giving these farmers coming from? We need to know where it has come from because it was not on our budget,” the vocal lawmaker said.
He added, “When you involve stakeholders, things will work. Because we never involve stakeholders in public health decisions. I want to ask you Mr President to hire me as your advisor because your people are not being honest with you.”
Infotrak poll
In the poll that was released on Wednesday, February 12, Babu Owino emerged the top-performing MP with a score of 72 percent, with Ndindi Nyoro trailing him closely with a score of 71 percent.
Kabuchai constituency MP Majimbo Kalasinga and his Kathiani counterpart Robert Mbui emerged third and fourth, respectively, after tying with 62 percent.
Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, Sirisia’s John Waluke, Salasya, and Mbooni MP Erastus Nzioka Kivasu scored 61 percent to emerge in the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth positions, respectively.
Wundanyi’s Danson Mwakuwona, Taveta’s John Bwire, Saboti MP Caleb Amisi, and Kitui Central MP Benson Mulu Makali scored 60 percent each to close the list of the top ten best performing MPs.
