Man charged over defilement of 15-year-old boy in Nairobi

A man has been charged with defiling a 15-year-old boy between February 1, 2025, and April 23, 2025, in Kangemi in Nairobi County.
In a statement on X on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, the Office of Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) revealed that Kennedy Otieno Ochieng was charged before a Milimani Children’s Court with defilement, an alternative charge of indecent act, five counts of child pornography and trafficking in persons.
“It is alleged that Otieno Ochieng, on diverse dates between February 1, 2025, and April 23, 2025, intentionally and unlawfully defiled a 15-year-old boy in Kangemeni, Dagoreti Sub County, Nairobi County,” read the statement in part.
Further, the ODPP stated that the accused was charged with five counts of child pornography, contrary to Section 24(1)(d) of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act No.5 of 2018.
“Prosecuting Counsel Grace Musangi told the court that between 8th February 2025 and 24th April 2025, the accused person unlawfully produced a child pornography video, found in possession of a child pornography video and unlawfully shared a child pornography video using his mobile phone,” the statement continued.
Similarly, he was charged with trafficking in person, where it is alleged that on the diverse dates between February 1, 2025, and April 23, 2025, at Waruku-Kangemi in Dagoretti Sub County, he harboured a male aged 15 years to exploit the said child sexually.
However, appearing before Principal Magistrate Dr Alice Macharia, he denied the charges.
Otieno Ochieng was denied bond, and the case is set for hearing on June 17, 2025.
Retired major defilement case
This comes a few days after ODPP charged a retired major with defilement of a 12-year-old girl in Mombasa.
In a statement on May 19, 2025, the ODPP revealed that Antony Jakaa Mganda, alias Tonny, alias Major Mganda, was charged in Shanzu Law Court with two counts of defilement and two alternative counts of committing an indecent act with a child and trafficking in persons.

“Principal Prosecution Counsel Antony Musyoka told the court that the accused person intentionally and unlawfully defiled a child aged 12 years on October 16, 2021, at Mwatamba/Kadzandani area within Nyali Sub-County in Mombasa,” read the statement.
Jakaa Mganda pleaded not guilty to the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Robert Mbogo.
The Shanzu Law Court will deliver a ruling on the bond on May 23, 2025.
According to statistics from the Kenya Health Demographic Survey (KHDS), cases of defilement have decreased from 40 per cent in 2014 to 28 per cent in 2022.
