ODPP announces public auction of unserviceable vehicles
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has announced a public auction of unserviceable motor vehicles and assorted stores, inviting interested bidders to participate in the exercise scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
According to a public notice published by the ODPP in the MyGov publication on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the auction will be held at the agency’s Nairobi offices starting at 10:00 a.m, and the exercise will be conducted by Trend Auctioneers.
“The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) invites interested bidders for the sale of unserviceable motor vehicles and obsolete stores on 22/7/2026 at 10.00 am at our Nairobi offices,” the public notice reads.
ODPP further stated that prospective buyers will have an opportunity to inspect the vehicles and stores before the auction. Viewing will take place from July 9 to July 17, 2026, during normal working hours between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Additionally,all items will be sold on an “as is, where is” basis, meaning they will be sold in their current condition without any repairs or warranties.

Qualifications as a bidder
To qualify for the auction, bidders interested in purchasing motor vehicles will be required to pay a refundable deposit equivalent to 10 percent of the reserve price for each vehicle they intend to bid for, while those interested in the assorted stores, which will be sold as a single lot, must pay a refundable deposit of Ksh5,000.
“Interested bidders wishing to purchase motor vehicles will be required to pay a refundable deposit equivalent to 10 per cent of the reserve price for each vehicle. Those interested in the assorted stores, which will be sold as one lot, must pay a refundable deposit of Ksh5,000,” the notice reads.
“The deposits should be paid into the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions account at the Central Bank of Kenya under the account name REC–Directorate of Public Prosecutions, Account Number 1000181605. The ODPP noted that unsuccessful bidders will receive a full refund of their deposits.”
The prosecution office has also advised interested buyers to download the auction catalogue from the ODPP website and the Public Procurement Information Portal (PPIP). The catalogue contains details of the motor vehicles and assorted stores available for sale.
However, the ODPP has urged bidders to verify the details of the vehicles during the inspection period, noting that neither the office nor the auctioneer guarantees the particulars of the items listed in the catalogue.

In addition, ODDP stated that successful bidders must pay 25 percent of the purchase price immediately after the auction and clear the balance within seven days or forfeit their deposit. Purchased vehicles must also be collected within 14 days, after which a storage fee of Ksh2,000 per day will apply.
“Successful bidders will be required to pay 25 percent of the purchase price immediately after the fall of the hammer, with the remaining balance to be settled within seven days. Failure to pay the outstanding amount within the stipulated period will result in the forfeiture of the deposit,” the notice reads.
“The ODPP further stated that successful buyers must collect their motor vehicles within 14 days from the date of the auction. Any vehicle not collected within the specified period will attract a storage fee of Ksh2,000 per day until it is removed.”
The ODPP further stated that all sales are subject to the reserve price, meaning no vehicle or item will be sold below the minimum price set by the seller.
It also clarified that each deposit paid is valid for only one motor vehicle, and bidding numbers will only be issued on the auction day after proof of deposit payment has been presented.
