‘Artists have a right to enjoy life’- Magix Enga defends OJ after viral pub video

Music producer Magix Enga has come to the defence of former Tahidi High actor Dennis Mugo, popularly known as OJ, after a video of the actor at a local pub went viral on social media.
In a post shared on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, Magix criticised the culture of recording celebrities while they are out enjoying themselves and posting the footage in a way that he believes is intended to damage their reputation.
“Mbona msanii akienda club kuenjoy kama kila mtu mwingine, watu hukimbilia kutoa simu wamrekodi ndio waharibu image yake? Hiyo ni wivu tu,” Magix wrote.
The producer questioned why only celebrities are singled out for recording despite clubs being full of other people having a good time.
“Club imejaa wasee wanakunywa na wanaenjoy, mbona hamwarekodi wote? Mbona ni msanii pekee?” he added.
Magix says artists deserve privacy
Magix sympathised with OJ, revealing that he had previously experienced a similar situation himself.
“Pole sana Dennis Mugo. Niliwahi pitia kitu kama hiyo pia. Wasee waache kutafuta clout kwa kuharibu jina ya mtu,” he said.

He maintained that entertainers should be allowed to enjoy their personal lives without being targeted for social media content.
“Msanii pia ni binadamu, ako na right ya kuenjoy life kama kila mtu mwingine. Heshimuni watu na muache mchezo za kuharibu image ya wengine,” Magix added.
OJ responds to viral video
Magix’s remarks come after OJ addressed the viral footage, dismissing attempts to portray him negatively for spending time with friends at a local pub.
The former Tahidi High actor said he has always enjoyed socialising with his friends and saw nothing wrong with the video circulating online.

OJ also criticised some media outlets for amplifying the footage, urging journalists to uphold professionalism in their reporting.
“I thank all of these media houses still spreading footage of my good times. I have always had fun wherever I am with my friends,” he said.
The actor added that he would not allow the criticism to change how he lives his life, saying he intends to continue doing things his own way despite the online attention.
