Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has accused opposition leaders of inciting unrest and derailing Kenya’s national development agenda.

Speaking during an economic empowerment forum in Kajiado West on Saturday, July 19, 2025, Kindiki warned that continued political agitation risks plunging the country back into tribal divisions, violence, and instability.

“We must stop the cycle of violence, tribalism and chaos if this country is to move forward,” Kindiki said, urging political leaders to act responsibly.

He emphasised that national unity and peace were essential foundations for economic progress.

Kindiki dismissed the wave of protests and anti-government rhetoric championed by the opposition, calling them unproductive and misleading.

“Hii siasa ya makelele haitajenga nchi. Tukitaka maendeleo, lazima tuweke kazi mbele ya siasa,” he said, urging Kenyans to prioritise work and development over political theatrics.

He said those leading the current wave of agitation were the same individuals who had failed the country in previous administrations.

“Those who are shouting the loudest today are the same people who mismanaged the country yesterday. We will not allow them to sabotage the gains we are making,” he said.

Kindiki underscored that the government would not be distracted by empty slogans but would continue focusing on tangible service delivery and transformation.

Despite political noise, Kindiki said President William Ruto’s administration is implementing key development projects across counties.

He highlighted the construction of 400 modern markets nationwide, including 14 in Kajiado, as part of efforts to uplift local economies.

In education, the Deputy President launched a Ksh165 million project for 340 hostel units at the Kajiado West Technical Training Institute and pledged further support to Maasai TTI.

He also cited ongoing upgrades on the Ngong–Suswa road to improve access to Naivasha and promote trade.

Kindiki encouraged residents to register under the Social Health Authority, saying over 24.7 million Kenyans have already joined.

Additionally, he revealed that Ksh700 million has been set aside to connect 4,000 homes in Kajiado to electricity under the Last Mile programme.
