Kenya Power announces blackout in parts of 7 counties on Thursday

Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power outage in parts of the country on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
The company said the exercise is part of its ongoing efforts to improve electricity reliability and supply across the country. In a statement on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, through X, Kenya Power said the outage will affect customers in Nairobi, Central Rift, Western, South Nyanza, Kiambu, and Coast regions.

“Good Evening. The following areas are on a scheduled power maintenance tomorrow (23.10.2025). We regret any inconvenience this may cause during the operation,” the statement read.
Nairobi Region
In Nairobi, the 9:00 am to 5:00 pm blackout will affect residents of Bendera Lane, Eastleigh, and parts of Karen.
The affected areas include Hombe Road, Nairobi National Polytechnic, Don Bosco High School, Kipande Athumani Street, Mweni Road, Racecourse Primary, Barakaat Hospital, Muratina Street, Jam Street, and Ushirika Estate.
In Karen, the outage will hit Rhino Park Road, parts of Kerarapon Road, Mahugu Park, Air Travel, NEGST, Karinde Water Pump, Gitiba Primary, Resurrection Gardens, Homescope, Karen Hilltop Garden, Nine Sisters, and Karinde Shell Petrol Station.
Central Rift Region (Bomet County)
In the Central Rift region, the 9:00 am to 5:00 pm outage will affect parts of Bomet County, including Olpisiai, GK Prisons, Kilgoris, Lolgorian, Mararianda, Kichwa Tembo, Angama, Partakilat, Mara Engai, Mara West, Angata Barrikoi, Gwitembe, Oldonyorok, and Masurura.
Western Region (Busia County)
In the Western region, residents of Matayos in Busia County will experience a power interruption between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Affected areas include Iwanya Girls, Matayos Youth Polytechnic, Matayos Health Centre, and adjacent customers.

South Nyanza Region (Migori County)
In South Nyanza, parts of Migori County will be affected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, including Macalder, Okenge, and Owiro.
The outage will cover Macalder Polytechnic, Macalder Industrial Park, Okenge Market, Okenge Secondary, parts of Macalder Town, and Owiro Primary School.
Central Region (Kiambu County)
In Kiambu County, Thogoto, YMCA, and Broadways areas will experience power interruptions. Affected places include Thogoto TTC, PUEA, UON Kikuyu Campus, Kikuyu Mission and Hospital, Alliance Boys, Alliance Girls High School, Mt. Kenya University, Mama Millers, and Vine Park.
Coast Region (Mombasa and Kilifi Counties)
At the Coast, parts of Mombasa and Kilifi counties will also be affected. In Mombasa, the outage will cover Vikwatani, Mtopanga, Mwandoni, Chembani, and surrounding estates.
In Kilifi County, affected areas include Jiwe Jeupe, Seven Islands, Jacaranda, Timboni, Gede, Wa-tamu Village, Baracuda, Blue Bay, Kanani, Twiga, Papa Remo, Sun Palm, Fortamu, Mawe Nzuri Resort, Snake Farm & adjacent customers.
