Kenya Met warns of heavy winds, storms in some parts of the country on Saturday, November 15

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert warning of heavy winds and isolated storms expected across select counties on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
In the statement released on Friday, November 14, 2025, the department indicated that mainly sunny intervals will dominate across most regions, although rainfall is expected over a few places in the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley, South Eastern Lowlands, and parts of the Coast.

According to the advisory, strong southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.5m/s) are expected over sections of Marsabit and Turkana counties, posing possible risks for transport, especially for small aircraft and light vehicles travelling through open terrain.
The Highlands West, including counties such as Kakamega, Kisumu, Kericho, and Bungoma, are expected to experience showers and thunderstorms over a few places tonight, followed by a mix of morning sunny intervals and afternoon storms.
A similar pattern is forecast for the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, covering Nairobi, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kiambu, Embu, Meru, and neighbouring counties, where showers and thunderstorms are also expected in select areas.

In the South Eastern Lowlands, including Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Taita Taveta and Kajiado, the department projects cloudy conditions with chances of rain, breaking into sunny intervals before afternoon thunderstorms develop in some locations.

For North Eastern Kenya, including Garissa, Wajir and Mandera, the forecast shows mainly sunny intervals, with isolated chances of morning rain in a few places.
Along the Coast covering Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu and Tana River, Kenyans should expect cloudy mornings with light showers, then sunny spells for the remainder of the day.
Major towns will experience warm daytime temperatures, with Lodwar at 36°C, Garissa at 35°C, Mandera at 37°C, and coastal towns ranging between 30°C and 33°C. Nairobi is expected to record highs of 25°C with morning rains followed by sunny intervals.
