Met Department forecasts sunny weather with light rain across Kenya
Sunshine lights up the day as clear skies stretch above.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has forecast mostly sunny weather across the country on Saturday, July 11, 2026, although several counties are expected to experience light rainfall and isolated afternoon showers.

According to the latest weather outlook, many parts of Kenya will begin the day with partly cloudy conditions before giving way to sunny intervals. However, some regions are likely to receive light rain later in the day.

Sunny conditions expected

Nairobi is expected to record temperatures of between 15°C and 23°C. The capital will experience partly cloudy conditions overnight, followed by cloudy skies with light rain over a few areas in the morning before sunny intervals dominate the afternoon.

Similar weather is expected in neighbouring counties, including Kiambu, Murang’a, Embu, Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kirinyaga and Tharaka-Nithi, where residents should expect partly cloudy conditions followed by sunny intervals, with light rain expected in a few areas.

Nyeri and Nyandarua are also likely to experience partly cloudy conditions, with a chance of showers in a few places later in the day.

Showers in counties

In the Rift Valley, counties such as Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Nandi, Uasin Gishu and Trans Nzoia may experience light afternoon showers, with thunderstorms expected in isolated areas of Narok.

Western Kenya is expected to experience sunny intervals, although light showers and isolated afternoon thunderstorms are forecast in some counties.

Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira are expected to receive light showers in a few places, while Kakamega and Vihiga could also experience afternoon thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Turkana, West Pokot, Samburu and Laikipia are expected to remain largely sunny, while Baringo could experience isolated afternoon showers.

Warm weather

Warm conditions are also expected in several parts of the country, particularly in northern and western Kenya. Turkana is forecast to record the highest daytime temperature of 35°C, while Busia, Kakamega and Kisumu will reach between 30°C and 31°C.

Makueni is expected to hit 29°C, with Homa Bay, Migori and Kisii also experiencing warm afternoon temperatures despite the possibility of isolated showers later in the day.
