Kenya Met issues weather alert for Saturday

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a weather alert for Saturday, October 25, 2025, noting that rainfall is expected over most parts of the country.
Heavy showers and thunderstorms are forecast for the western Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin, while light rainfall and afternoon thunderstorms are expected over parts of the Central Highlands, including Nairobi County, Kajiado, and surrounding areas.

Areas likely to experience the downpours include Nyahururu, Baringo, Laikipia, Nyandarua, Bomet, Kericho, Vihiga, Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, Kisii, and Nyamira.
According to the forecast, “Showers and thunderstorms are expected over several places in the Lake Victoria Basin and Rift Valley. Showers are expected over a few places in the central highlands.
In Nairobi County and surrounding central highland regions, including Kajiado, Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Embu, Machakos, and Kitui, light rainfall and thunderstorms are expected during the afternoon.
The rains are likely to be sporadic, but motorists and pedestrians are cautioned to take care on wet and slippery surfaces.

Northeastern counties
Northwestern counties such as Turkana and Samburu are expected to experience partly cloudy conditions, with showers over Turkana in the afternoon that may continue for most of the day.

Northeastern counties, including Marsabit, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, and Isiolo, are expected to have partly cloudy conditions with sand and dust devils prevailing throughout the day.
Southeastern lowlands and coast
For the southeastern lowlands, including Makueni, Mwingi, Kitui, Taita Taveta, and Kajiado, cloudy conditions in the morning are expected to break into sunny intervals, with showers likely over Kajiado and Machakos in the afternoon.
“Cloudy conditions in the morning, breaking with sunny intervals. Showers are expected over Kajiado and Machakos in the afternoon.” Residents are advised to plan outdoor activities accordingly.
Coastal counties such as Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Tana River are forecast to have partly cloudy skies at night, with sunny intervals dominating throughout the day.
