Former president of the Bunge la Mwananchi Calvince Okoth alias Gaucho has gifted his counterpart at the Jacaranda Bunge Shadrack Orwa alias Omosh One Hour a sum of Ksh50,000.

While handing the cash to Omosh on Thursday, May 15, 2025, evening, Gaucho urged the vocal commentator to pledge his loyalty to President William Ruto and Raila Odinga’s broad-based government.

Gaucho told the political commentator to side with the ruling government if he needed to transform his life, and to continue with his aspiration of becoming the Karen Member of County Assembly (MCA) in 2027.

Pledge allegiance

“From now on, the only people you should defend and support are Raila Odinga, President William Ruto, Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi and Treasury CS John Mbadi,” Gaucho told Omosh.

This came just months after Omosh registered his frustrations with Raila after he took activist Kasmuel McOure under his wings. Omosh observed that Raila’s decision to offer Kasmuel a gig was an insult to his diehard supporters, who were languishing in abject poverty.

“All my life I have been an ardent supporter of ODM, but I was surprised when Raila Odinga offered Kasmuel McOure a position in his party. This time round, we shall not be used by politicians to attend demonstrations; they better start talking to their wives and children to accompany them to the protests,” Omosh lamented in March 2025.

This development came shortly after he accompanied Raila to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in his failed bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship in February 2025.

Benefits from influence

Gaucho, who is the immediate former president of the Bunge la Mwananchi revealed that he has used his influence to build businesses for himself.

“People tend to imagine that money is dished out to me every day by these politicians, but far from it, I just know how to make good use of the name and brand I have built to further the interests of my businesses,” Gaucho remarked.

With his ties to the Odinga family, Gaucho has been seen shuttling the country aboard choppers and in the company of senior politicians.

The politician who unsuccessfully vied for the ODM MCA nomination in Nairobi has now set his sights on returning to his rural home in Migori County to seek an elective seat.

In a previous interview, Gaucho indicated that he could as well take a stab at the Senate or constituency MP seat in Migori County.
