Gachagua: Narok DCP candidate attacked by armed police at his home
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a stinging accusation against the government after what he described as a “violent and coordinated attack” on the home of Douglas Masikonde, the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) candidate for Narok Town ward.
In a strongly worded statement issued via his official social media accounts on the night of Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Gachagua claimed that heavily armed police officers and state-sponsored militia had stormed Masikonde’s residence, where he and his polling agents were undergoing last-minute training ahead of the by-election.
According to Gachagua, the raid turned violent, with officers allegedly roughing up the candidate and his team in what he believes is a plot to manipulate the upcoming vote.
“I am now, without an iota of doubt, persuaded that this regime has gone mad and has lost its moral compass. Throwing caution to the wind, heavily armed police officers and state-sponsored militia have stormed the home of our DCP candidate, Hon. Douglas Masikonde, in Narok Town and violently attacked him and his agents, who were undergoing training,” Gachagua wrote on X.
“It is now clear that plans to stuff ballot papers are complete and our agents are being intimidated to subvert the sovereign will of the people.”

Intimidation
He went ahead to claim that the attack was part of a wider scheme to intimidate DCP agents and suppress the will of the people of Narok Town, accusing the government of trying to force a UDA candidate on residents.
Gachagua further warned that the intimidation tactics, combined with the alleged presence of pre-marked ballots, posed a direct threat to the credibility of the mini-poll.
Despite the tension, the former DP urged residents to remain calm and turn out in large numbers to vote.
“This is an attempt to deny the people of Narok Town their constitutional right to elect a candidate of their choice and to force the UDA candidate upon them. I appeal to the people of Narok Town to stay calm and turn out to vote despite the many hurdles being placed in their way,” Gachagua stated.

Gachagua warns IEBC
This comes just a day after Gachagua warned the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), accusing state agents of planning to rig the upcoming Narok Town Ward by-election and unleash violence on residents.
In a letter dated Tuesday, November 25, 2025, addressed to IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon, Gachagua expressed deep concern that the mini polls in Narok Ward may be marred by intimidation, voter suppression, brutality, and the declaration of a predetermined winner.
According to the statement, DCP pointed out that on Monday, November 24, 2025, hundreds of uniformed and civilian-clothed police officers, accompanied by state-sponsored militia, mounted illegal roadblocks to block DCP candidate Douglas Masikonde from campaigning in Narok Town.
