Gachagua arrives in Boston for diaspora engagements

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has arrived in Boston, Massachusetts, as part of his ongoing two-month tour of the United States aimed at engaging Kenyans living in the diaspora.

He touched down at Logan International Airport on Thursday, July 17, 2025, where he was welcomed by members of the Kenyan community, led by diaspora chairman David Gikonyo.

Gachagua, accompanied by his wife, Pastor Dorcas Gachagua, is expected to meet with various groups during his stay in Boston, continuing a series of engagements that have already seen him visit Seattle, Washington.

While in Seattle, he met members of several Kenyan communities and launched a satellite office for his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).

Diaspora voices

Gachagua’s remarks during the tour have focused on listening to the concerns of Kenyans abroad and strengthening their involvement in national matters.

“I am glad that they understand the challenges our country is undergoing and their commitment to supporting positive change,” Gachagua said during a meeting with the Abagusii community in Seattle on July 15.

“It’s motivating to see our community members come together with concern, hope, and a shared desire to contribute to a better future.”

Gachagua’s U.S. tour marks his first foreign trip since his impeachment in October 2024. The journey, which began with a warm reception in Seattle on July 10, has been described as a critical step in his political comeback and a chance to reconnect with the Kenyan diaspora.

So far, his engagements have included cultural events like Ngemi Cia Ruraya, a gathering of Kikuyu community members, as well as town hall discussions focused on governance, reform, and unity. His party’s slogan, “Skiza Wakenya” (Listen to Kenyans), has been a central theme throughout the tour.

Gachagua’s itinerary includes further stops in Dallas, California, and Baltimore, as he seeks to consolidate support among Kenyans living abroad ahead of the 2027 General Election.
