The Football Kenya Federation (FKF), through its President Hussein Mohamed, has urged Kenyans to behave ahead of Sunday’s Kenya vs Zambia clash at Kasarani.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Mohamed also revealed that plans are underway to set up special fan zones for supporters.

“We are also making arrangements to set up fan zones where supporters who might not have an opportunity to watch the Harambee Stars final group play against Zambia this Sunday can do so in a safe and controlled environment,” Mohamed said.

Creating safe spaces for supporters

The FKF president explained that the fan zones will allow people to enjoy the match together without having to be at the stadium.

“Details of these fan zones will be shared shortly as we continue working on the preparations,” he added.

Mohamed appealed to Kenyans to give the team their full support, no matter where they watch the game.

“It is my appeal to all Kenyans out there to cheer our team. If you are coming to the stadium, come with a valid ticket. If you don’t have it, please watch it at home,” he said.

Concern over match fines

He also shared his concern over the fines the federation has been receiving after matches due to incidents involving fans.

“For my team and me in the FKF, we are concerned about the fines we are receiving after every match,” Mohamed stated.

The FKF president encouraged fans to focus on supporting the Harambee Stars positively and respectfully, whether at the stadium, in fan zones, or at home.

He reminded Kenyans that how they behave reflects on the country’s image in the sporting world.

As the big day approaches, Mohamed’s message was clear: cheer with passion, but also with care. By doing so, fans can help ensure the match is remembered for the football on the pitch rather than incidents off it.
