Kenyan singer and actress Nikita Kering has opened up about her experience working on a comedy skit about co-parenting, revealing that the script was enough to convince her to take part in the project.

Nikita shared her experience in a post on X on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, after working with content creator Crazy Kennar on a video that explored the challenges couples can face while raising a child after separating.

She said she initially felt nervous when Kennar pitched the idea, but her concerns changed after reading the first page of the script.

Nikita on the co-parenting script

Nikita explained that she did not even feel the need to memorise the script because the writing made sense to her from the beginning. She said the way the scenes and actions were described in the script let her picture the finished video before filming even started.

“I didn’t care to memorise the script because it just made utter sense! Not only was the writing itself hilarious, but even the manner in which he described and visualised the lines in the brackets was enough to make me feel as though I was already watching the skit,” she said.

The video focused on some of the challenges that can arise when parents have to continue raising their children together despite no longer being in a relationship. Through comedy, the skit touched on the disagreements, misunderstandings and situations that can come with co-parenting.

‘I left there with one thing: inspiration’

For Nikita, however, the experience went beyond appearing in a comedy video. After working with the team, she said she left the project feeling inspired by what she had seen during the production.

“All in all, I left there with one thing: inspiration. It’s been a while since I saw and worked with such an exceptional team with an even more exceptional leader,” she said.

Her comments highlighted the impression the production process left on her, particularly the preparation that went into creating the skit. Nikita also used the opportunity to appreciate Kennar for the work he continues to put into his content and other projects.

Nikita praises mental health work

Beyond the co-parenting video, Nikita also acknowledged Kennar’s efforts in raising awareness about mental health. The content creator has previously used his platforms to create conversations around mental health while incorporating comedy into his work.

Nikita said she believed the work he had done in the area had already made a difference in people’s lives.

“Thank you for the work you put behind this and everything else you do. I’m sure the work you have put into mental health awareness has already saved many lives. All the best in everything,” she said.

Comedy tackles co-parenting challenges

The project comes as Kenyan digital creators continue using comedy to address situations that many people can relate to in their everyday lives.

Rather than presenting co-parenting as a purely serious subject, Kennar and Nikita used humour to explore some of the situations that can arise between parents as they navigate raising their children.

For Nikita, the project offered an opportunity to step into a different creative space while also giving her a closer look at the work that goes into producing digital comedy.

Her reflections suggest that the experience was memorable not only because of the final video, but also because of what she learnt from being part of the production.
