Social media personality Mercy Masai Nashipai has had a huge billboard featuring herself and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua installed in Kitengela as she steps up her campaign for the Kajiado County Woman Representative seat ahead of the 2027 General Election.

In a video shared on her TikTok page on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, Masai proudly showed off the imposing billboard, which features her dressed in traditional Maasai attire alongside Gachagua, who is pictured in an official suit.

Masai is positioned prominently at the very top of the billboard, occupying a considerably larger section of the display, while Gachagua appears towards the lower section.

The billboard serves as a campaign tool for the aspiring politician and carries several messages aimed at rallying support for her bid, including instructions on how voters should mark the ballot paper when they head to the polls in 2027.

The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) logo is also prominently positioned in one of the upper corners of the billboard, while additional messages at the bottom highlight the influence of Gen Z voters alongside a brief message centred on hope.

“Mercy Masai Nashipai, DCP Party. Woman Representative, Kajiado County 2027. Hope in Action. Gen Z ndio next,” the writings on the billboard read.

Move to DCP

Separately, the influencer clarified that she had not been a member of any political party before joining DCP, explaining that she had pursued her political ambitions independently and asked voters to support her under her own name.

In a post on Monday, August 17, 2026, Masai noted that her interactions with politicians from different political parties had sometimes led to assumptions about her political affiliation.

“It is very important I make this clear. Chama yangu ni DCP na sijawai kuwa chama ingine. I have been partyless, nilikua freelancer,” Mercy Masai said on Monday, August 17, 2026.

Masai explained that she had previously been seeking votes as an independent political aspirant rather than presenting herself as a member of a particular party.

She further noted that she had interacted with people from different political formations, but maintained that such engagements did not mean she had belonged to any of the parties she was seen associating with.

Nimekua nikiomba kura kama Mercy Masai. So you guys have been seeing me with watu wa different chama, but mimi hakuna mahali nimewai kuja nikawaambia niko chama yoyote,” Mercy Masai said.

The social media personality also addressed her previous meeting with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, explaining that the two had not held further discussions about her political ambitions following their encounter.

Her decision to join DCP was subsequently welcomed by Gachagua, who announced that Masai had chosen to align herself with the party as she prepared to contest the Kajiado Woman Representative position.

Gachagua said Masai’s decision to join the party was informed by her decision to listen to the people of Kajiado and their aspirations.

“Welcome to DCP Party, Mercy Nashipai Legilisho (Mercy Masai) as you plan your bid for the position of Woman Representative for Kajiado County,” Rigathi Gachagua said.
