Former Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary and 2027 Jubilee Party presidential candidate Fred Matiang’i has shared details about retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s vision for Kenyans under the Jubilee Party.

Speaking on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the Jubilee Party headquarters during the Jubilee Party meeting, Matiang’i described that the Jubilee Party was founded on the grounds of building unity among communities in Kenya.

He went on explaining the instructions detailed by the Jubilee Party leader, retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, in moving as an organised party.

“As our party leader Uhuru Kenyatta has instructed, we are an organised group; we follow what our leader guides us to do,” he maintained.

On the other end, Matiang’i added that Uhuru has often instructed that the party maintain a clear mission of unity while embracing each other, mirroring sibling love.

“Our party leader, retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, has been very clear on this: we must go forward with one mission, uniting Kenya, speaking to each other as brothers and sisters,” he stated.

Matiang’i further unveiled that from the onset, the focus of forming Jubilee was integration and bringing Kenyans together, with the challenge now being in ensuring that the party preserves the gains that have been made.

“The focus of forming Jubilee was integration and bringing Kenyans together; our challenge now is to ensure we preserve the gains that have been made and enhance the unity of the people of Kenya,” he added.

He went on explaining why the then parties had to collapse for the integration of the Jubilee Party in a move to foster unity among Kenyans.

“My understanding of the Jubilee Party is that it was founded on the principles of integration and building unity amongst the community of Kenya; that is why many parties collapsed to come and form Jubilee (TNA, URP),” Matiang’i said.

Matiang’i Presidency endorsement

His remarks follow a recent official endorsement of the Jubilee Party as its presidential candidate for the 2027 General Election, marking a major step in the party’s bid to reassert its influence in national politics.

The announcement was made by Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni on Thursday, October 30, 2025, following a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the party’s headquarters and chaired by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“We have resolved that Matiang’i represents us at the United Opposition. On top of that, we have formally received his application to be the presidential candidate, and the NEC has approved and resolved that he now carries the flag of the Jubilee Party as the presidential candidate,” Kioni announced.

He added that Matiang’i would not only represent Jubilee within the broader opposition coalition but also serve as the face of the party going forward, especially in light of the limited public engagements by party leader Uhuru Kenyatta.
