Tuesday blackout to affect Nairobi, 6 other counties

Kenya Power has announced a blackout scheduled to affect seven counties on Tuesday, May 27, 2024.

In a statement on Monday, May 27, 2024, the utility company cited routine network maintenance as the reason for the temporary interruption.

In Nairobi County, the interruption will affect Njiru on from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Customers in QMP, Budalangi, Kwa Kanyari, and adjacent areas should expect an outage during these hours.

Kiambu County will experience power interruptions in several areas. Toll Station and Murera Coffee areas, including Whole of Mugutha, Toll Station, Ruiru Golf Club, Shell Toll Station, Courtesy Beach, Titanic, Green Ridge, Mugutha Secondary, Murera Primary, Tumaini Catholic Church, Mugutha One Four, Mukuyu Road, Judea Estate, PCEA, Mugutha Police, Neema Estate, River Line Estate, Dam Ridge Estate, Ruera Dam, Makaburi Village, Wakariuki, Apollos, and areas behind Spur Mall, will have no electricity from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Additionally, Gikambura and Jambu TV areas, including TTC, Gikambura Market, Riu Nderi, Gichuru Memorial, Jambu TV, and Nairobi Ndogo, will face interruptions from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In Kisumu County, Chiga Market and its surroundings, including Wildor School, Kochieng Centre, Kalusi Market, Nyamonge, Tom Owour, Mayienya Secondary, Chiga Market, Obumba School, Kasese Market, Masawa, Kasarani, Hera Church, Rweya, Bungu, and Anywang, will experience an outage from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Migori County’s Tebesi and Mutiniti areas, along with Igena Itambe, will be without power from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Kisii County’s Kegati and Ekerore areas, including Kegati Water Pump, Ekerore, Nyamemiso, Garanga Village, and adjacent customers, will have a power cut from 7:20 am to 2:20 pm.

In Nyeri County, Muruguru and Marua areas, encompassing Kwa George, Muruguru Booster, Marua, Ndakaini, FK Resort, Kinguka, Rukandu, Kuguru, Kiamuiru, Kigera, Githiru C/Fact, Kahiga, and Gikunju Maternity, will be affected from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Finally, in Kirinyaga County, power will be interrupted in Githure, Gatitu, and Kiamugumo areas, including Githure Market, Gatitu T/Fact, Kiamugumo Secondary School, KCC Ngariama, Kamwana Market, Kavingara C/Fact, and Kiambatha Poly & Market, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Additionally, Kiamutugu, Mbiri, part of PI Town, Shunem, Gaciongo, Muthegeini, and Karucho will experience outages from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
