‘Sina nyumba wala gari’ – Pastor Ezekiel tells parliamentary committee

Besieged Pastor Ezekiel Odero has confirmed that he does not own any house or car as presumed by the public.

Appearing Senate Ad Hoc Committee at Parliament buildings on Friday, October 13, 2023, Pastor Ezekiel noted that all his perceived wealth is registered under the New Life Prayer Centre and Church.

The man of the cloth also informed the senate that everything he purchases from his watch to clothes and house is registered under the church.

“Hakuna any document ya title deed imeandikwa kwa jina pastor Ezekiel apart from maybe two or three vehicles which we have tried registering under the new life church, sina garin langu mimi, wala nyumba ata hii saa risiti yake ni new life,” he said.

This loosely translates to:

“There is no title deed under my name, everything I own from my house to cars and watches are registered under the new life church,”

Similarly, Ezekiel disclosed that all projects he has undertaken to develop the society have been done by the church.

He refuted any claims linking him to malicious activities and noted that he has never in any way forced his congregants to contribute money. He stated that the congregants willingly contribute generously through tithes and offerings.

This, according to Ezekiel, has been the major source of funding for all the scholarships which he says have been granted to over 100 needy students.

“Hakuna njia yoyote tunapata pesa kutoka kwa mtu ambaye anatuletea pesa kwa njia yoyote. I can’t remember kama nimechukua pesa kwa mkono wa mtu kanisani mavueni and I always tell congregants, unajua pahali madhabao iko weka sadaka hapo usiniletee,” he stated.

This loosely translates to:

“There is no other way we get money from anyone in any other way, I can’t remember any time I took money from a congregant at my church. I always tell them to present their offerings and tithes at the altar,”

The pastor also insisted that his church is shaped by the ideology of helping the needy first.

“Our ideology is that whatever we get from the chance it is important that it helps the community. We have tried since the beginning and I can give prove. I don’t believe that offertory is meant to help the pastor alone. It should help the needy as it is written in the book of Deuteronomy 14,” he stated.
