Police in Athi river Sub-County are pursuing two boda boda riders suspected to have attacked and killed a man in Githunguri within Mlolongo division in Machakos County on Friday, May 27 2022.
According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, the deceased identified as Evans Otoigo was heading home in the company of four friends when he met two motorcycle riders carrying four male clients.
Police say man was attacked by machete
An argument ensued following a brief chat between the two parties and in the process, the boda boda group attacked the deceased and his friends with crude weapons and a machete.
“George Dennis Ogega Ayako a Kisii male adult aged 28 years and a resident of zebra area that at around 2330hrs on 27/05/2022 while in the company of his four friends were strolling back to their residence from Tonnies Lounge when they met two unknown motorcycle riders each with two pillion passengers,” the police report reads in parts.
Three of the victims managed to escape narrowly leaving Ayako and Otiogo cornered by the assailants.
Ayako managed to survive the horrifying incident as Otiogo succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The report further stated that the deceased suffered from multiple injuries believed to have been inflicted by a blunt object.
The body is currently lying at Kenyatta University Funeral home awaiting autopsy.
The incident comes barely a month after a boda boda operator was brutally murdered by unknown assailants.
Following the latest incident, the resident who decried insecurity in the region called on relevant authorities to arrest the suspects.
