The Kenya National Highways Authority(KeNHA) has urged motorists headed to Nakuru to be cautious following heavy gridlock that saw commuters and motorists get stranded overnight.

The heavy traffic was particularly noted in a section of the Northern Corridor, between Naivasha and Nakuru near the rail over the road bridge between the Gilgil turn-off and the weighbridge.

In a statement, drivers have been urged to take alternative routes with trucks asked to delay their travels until the traffic is eased.

“Motorists planning to travel between Nairobi and Nakuru are advised to use Flyover-Njabini-Olkalou-Lanet routes,” KeNHA advised.

Adding;

“Trucks are advised to delay their travels until the situation eases at Gilgil. Every effort is being made to enable traffic to start flowing.”

Police are on sight to restore normalcy.

“Motorists are also advised to exercise lane discipline and avoid overlapping as they approach this section in order to avoid further congestion.”
