Machakos family demands justice after kin was shot dead outside a club on Christmas Eve
A family in Machakos County is demanding justice after their son was shot dead outside a club in Machakos on the eve of Christmas.
While speaking to members of the press on Thursday, December 25, 2025, the family spokesperson narrated the frustration the family has gone through after the news of the death of their son.
“Kuna kijana yetu ambaya aliuwawa jana kwa bar moja hapa Machakos na tulipofika hapo, tukakuta mwenye bar, amekuja, ameandikisha statement hapa,” the family spokesperson said.
The family spokesperson explained that the family has had frustrating moments with the DCI and police officers in trying to crack down on the death of their kin.
“Tumekuja hapo asubuhi saa tatu. Tumefika hatuoni mtu yeyote tukapigia DCI. Tulipofika, akasema tukuje saa tano. Tukakuja hapa saa tano. Tulipofika, tukampigia simu tena, akatuambia yuko kwa kanisa,” said the family spokesperson.

“Tunajua watu wanaomba, lakini hii ni kitu ya maana sana; mtu ameuawa. Mtu ameuawa, halafu watu wanaanza kuficha maneno. Tunataka sirikali ingine hii kitu kwa viyote vile,” he added.
Machakos stabbing incident
The Machakos incident came barely two months after police in Machakos had apprehended the person of interest in the brutal killing of 21-year-old university student Virginia Wayua Nzioki, whose body was found in Kariobangi, Machakos County.
The man, identified as William Kaia, was arrested on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, while hiding in Mombasa following a manhunt that began shortly after the incident.
According to police reports, Kaia stabbed Wayua multiple times, killing her on the night of October 9, 2025.
According to the deceased’s mother, Josephine Ndunda, after committing the heinous act, Kaia called her to the family to say that he had killed their daughter, a call that left the family in shock and disbelief.
Speaking on Wednesday, 29, 2025, Ndunda recounted the heartbreaking series of events and her frustration with the slow police response before the murder occurred.
“Hata kama ni kitu alikuwa nayo yake angeniambia ningemlipa kuliko kumuua,” Ndunda said tearfully.
“Sioni kitu anaeza nipea au watu wao iniridhishe huyo mtoto wangu. Juu ni mtu tumemlipia, amepangiwa kuenda shule, kujoin university by January, na sasa hiyo yote imekatika.”
