New look: Wilson Sossion changes hairstyle after TSC job nomination

Former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion is embracing a noticeable new look just days after his nomination by President William Ruto to serve as a commissioner at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
The veteran educationist and politician stepped out at a public event on Saturday, July 25, 2026, looking markedly different from the image Kenyans have associated with him for years. The most talked-about change was his hairstyle.
Gone was his familiar natural crop. In its place was a closely cropped, jet-black hairstyle with the hair dyed and laid smoothly flat, complemented by a sharply defined hairline that gave him a cleaner, more polished appearance.
Paired with his trademark moustache, the makeover immediately caught the attention of social media users, many of whom remarked that Sossion looked almost unrecognisable.
A wardrobe refresh to match
The transformation extended beyond his hair. Sossion swapped his usual formal suits for a maroon blazer layered over a crisp white collared shirt, paired with well-fitted blue jeans.
The smart-casual outfit added to the fresh image, with many observers saying it reflected a more modern style as he prepares to take on his new public role.

His updated appearance quickly became a topic of discussion online, with many Kenyans linking the makeover to his recent nomination to the TSC.
Kenyans flood with humorous reactions
As photos of the former KNUT boss were shared on his page, Facebook users wasted no time sharing humorous and light-hearted reactions.
Some jokingly suggested the makeover was part of a “new job, new look” strategy following his TSC nomination.

One user, Caren Whitney, quipped, “The Commissioner too 😂,” while Kiprotich Ronoh joked, “Basco paints there you go.” Patricia Patty added, “Intex has contracted your head, Sir,” and Rose Langat humorously wrote, “The dye exceeded expectations… I am here to dedye.”
Others focused on the broader transformation. Natang’a Vennah teased, “Hide your girlfriends 😂😂😂 kijana ameiva mbaya,” while Chemutai Kirui admitted, “At first nilidhani ni AI 😅. But is this account real?”
