“To ensure public safety and the smooth management of the 2025 Jamhuri Day Celebrations—to be held on 12th December 2025 at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi—the National Police Service wishes to notify the public of temporary road closures and traffic diversions. These will be in effect from 7:00 a.m. on Friday, 12th December 2025, until 3:00 p.m. on the same day, as follows:”

According to the police, the Aerodrome/Wakihuri Road will be closed for the entire period. The Nairobi Expressway will also be shut in both directions between Capital Centre and Bunyala.

“These measures are necessary to ensure public safety and the smooth management of the Jamhuri Day celebrations,” NPS stated.

Motorists using Langata Road will be diverted through the Madaraka Roundabout toward Lusaka Road. Drivers heading into the city via the Expressway from Westlands will have to exit at Bunyala, while those coming from Mlolongo will exit at Capital Centre.

“The National Police Service is working collaboratively with relevant agencies to ensure smooth traffic flow and a successful event,” the statement added.

NPS urged all motorists to remain patient and cooperative throughout the day.

“We call on all road users to strictly adhere to traffic rules and follow the guidance of officers stationed along the affected routes. Stern action will be taken against anyone found violating these regulations,” the service warned.
