Jeremiah Kioni calls for justice and accountability as Kenyans step into 2026

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has called for justice, accountability, and people-centred leadership as Kenyans step into 2026.

In a statement on Thursday, January 1, 2026, Kioni acknowledged that many Kenyans are entering the new year carrying far more than just resolutions.

He spoke to the quiet struggles facing households across the country: parents worried about school fees and food, young people doing everything right yet still waiting for opportunities, and families holding themselves together under immense pressure.

Kioni noted that the past year demanded significant sacrifice, particularly from households that were already stretched thin.

He lamented that those bearing the heaviest burdens often have the least influence over decisions that directly affect their lives, while leadership continues to operate far removed from everyday realities.

“Decisions are made far from the realities of homes struggling to survive, and the system too often protects the powerful while ignoring those it was meant to serve. We know we can do better, and we refuse to accept anything less,” he said.

Despite these challenges, he praised ordinary Kenyans for their resilience, pointing out that it is their quiet perseverance , waking up early, trying again, and choosing responsibility even when the rewards feel unfair, that has kept the country standing.

As 2026 begins, Kioni urged citizens to remain clear-eyed and grounded, stressing that Kenya can and must do better.

He criticised systems that protect the powerful while neglecting the people they are meant to serve, insisting that leadership must earn trust through accountability rather than assume it.

“This year, we choose justice, opportunity and accountability,” he said.

“Above all, may our good Lord hear the quiet prayers you carry in your heart. May 2026 brings relief to the weary, protection to our families, strength to our friends, and blessing to our country.Happy New Year.”
