2025 KCSE: Bunyore Girls post strong results in Western region with 34 As
Western region academic giantess Bunyore Girls High School in Vihiga County has roared again in the 2025 KCSE exams, with 34 of its candidates scoring straight As.
It was a moment of celebration at Bunyore Girls on Friday, January 9, 2026, after the school realised that their 2025 KCSE candidates had posted excellent results.
Bunyore Girls, popularly known as the ‘Blues’, had 450 candidates out of 451 who scored C+ and above, meeting the direct university entry grades.
The joyous Chief Principal of Bunyore Girls High School, Judith Agade, who was mobbed by jubilant students and teachers moments after the release of the exams, said last year’s KCSE candidates had broken the record because the school had not posted such excellent achievements.
“The school had 451 candidates who sat for the 2025 KCSE exams. From 451 candidates, 34 have scored straight A plain, we have 95 A minus, 151 B+, 112 B plain, 45 B-, 13 C+ and one C plain,” the joyous Agade announced.

Agade added that the school also improved its mean score, rising from 9.3 to 9.81 points, beating its perennial rivals, Chavakali Boys High School.
“We are very grateful with our 2025 KCSE exam candidates for posting excellent results by giving us 34 straight As, 95 A-s, 151 B+, 112 Bs, 45 B-s, 13 C+ and one C plain and clean mean score of 9.81, breaking the academic record of the school since its inception,” Agade stated.
Agade said her last year’s candidates were good, disciplined, determined, focused, and God-fearing girls, which is why they managed to post impressive results.
Celebrations were also witnessed at Chavakali Boys, Nyang’ori Boys, Emusire, Mudasa, Shalom, Ebusakami Girls, Vihiga Boys and Keveye Girls.
Release of exams
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) released the 2025 KCSE results, with a total of 1,932 candidates scoring straight A’s in the exam, while 270,000 candidates achieved C+ and above, qualifying them for direct university entry.
Education CS Julius Migos Ogamba on Friday, January 9, 2026, said 993,226 students sat for the exams, up from 962,512 in 2024, marking an increase of 30,714 candidates.
Female candidates continue to outnumber male candidates for the second consecutive year, with 501,214 females compared to 492,012 males. The number of students achieving an overall mean grade A (plain) also increased slightly to 1,932 (0.19%) from 1,693 (0.18%) in 2024.
