Mungai Eve says she’s tired of being defined by her ex Trevor

YouTuber Mungai Eve has opened up about the constant public focus on her past relationship with her ex, Director Trevor, calling on Kenyans to stop comparing her personal life to her former partner.
Speaking during an interview on Saturday, January 31, 2026, Eve said she wants to be recognised for her individuality and the work she does, rather than being defined by a relationship that ended years ago.
“I am a person as a whole. You don’t have to keep saying, ‘Mungai Eve, she’s your ex-boyfriend,’ or, ‘Mungai Eve, she’s your current boyfriend.’ What’s the obsession?” she asked, stressing the pressure and scrutiny that come with being a public figure.
Career over gossip
Eve and Director Trevor were a high-profile couple in Kenya’s online media scene, known for both their romantic and professional collaboration.
Even though the two have gone their separate ways in 2024, public curiosity about Eve’s personal life continues to overshadow her achievements.

She emphasised that while relationships make for exciting headlines, they don’t define her as a creator or entrepreneur.
“I’ve been focusing on private ventures, real estate projects, and brand collaborations. I’ve also maintained my presence on Instagram and TikTok,” Eve explained.
She added that after five years of constant public attention, she felt the need to take a step back to strategise and produce content that brings her personal satisfaction.
Private life priority
Eve also addressed questions about her dating life, making it clear that she prefers to keep that part of her life private for the time being. She emphasised that personal growth matters more than public speculation.

“People need to understand that I am growing, and just because I was in a relationship in the past doesn’t define who I am today,” she said.
Eve also urged fans to be kind and not jump to conclusions about her choices or her absence from certain public engagements.
