Sheryl Gabriella, whose official name is Sheryl Cherono, is one of Kenya’s fast-rising digital creators.
Over the years, she has built a name for herself as a content creator, musician, actress, TikToker, YouTuber and entrepreneur. Her mix of lifestyle videos, comedy, music covers and motherhood content has attracted a large audience across East Africa.
She first gained attention by sharing relatable stories about her life as a young single mother. Her creative collaborations with comedian I Am Kabugi also helped introduce her to a wider audience, making her one of the country’s most recognised online personalities.
Family background
Sheryl was born on January 7, 2001, in Sotik, Kericho County. However, she spent most of her childhood in Bomet County after her parents separated when she was about five years old.
She was raised by her mother, Anita Kirui, alongside her two siblings. Sheryl has often spoken about the sacrifices her mother made to provide for the family. According to her, Anita worked different jobs, including domestic work and selling mitumba, to ensure her children had what they needed.
Away from her career, Sheryl is the mother of one son, Adrian Sebastian, who was born in 2020. She has also clarified on different occasions that she is not married.
Education
Sheryl completed both her primary and secondary education in Bomet County. While in school, she developed a strong interest in drama and other creative activities.
One of her most memorable school experiences came when she was in Form Four. Although her school had barred all Form Four students from taking part in the drama festival, she still attended the competition. Her decision paid off after she won the Best Actress award.
After finishing high school, she joined the Multimedia University of Kenya, where she studied Journalism and Mass Communication. She later graduated with a diploma.
Career
Sheryl’s career began on social media, where she shared lifestyle content, comedy skits and music covers. Her honest storytelling and consistent content helped her grow a loyal audience across platforms such as TikTok and YouTube.
As her online presence expanded, she ventured into acting, music and business while continuing to create digital content. Her collaborations with other creators, including I Am Kabugi, further boosted her profile.
Today, Sheryl Gabriella continues to balance content creation, entertainment and entrepreneurship, making her one of the notable young digital personalities in Kenya.
