Diamond Platnumz and Ali Kiba set to share stage in Kigoma

Tanzanian music heavyweights Diamond Platnumz and Ali Kiba are set to perform on the same stage in Kigoma later this month.
In an announcement made by Tanzanian entertainer who turned politician Clayton Revocatus Chipando, widely known as Baba Levo, during a press briefing on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, he said that both Diamond and Ali Kiba will be performing during the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project in Kigoma.
The event, which is scheduled for Monday, July 20, 2026, will be presided over by Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
“Diamond na Ali Kiba watakutana kwenye stage moja Kigoma, tarehe ishirini, siku ya jumatatu mwezi huu wa saba mama anaenda kuweka jiwe la msingi pale Kigoma kwa ajili wa ujenzi wa SGR,” Baba Levo said.
Additionally, Baba Levo said Kigoma-born artistes would be among those welcoming Samia.
He added that other musicians from the region would also be invited to attend the event.
“Naomba niwatajie watoto wakigoma ambao wameamua kuenda kumpokea mama Kigoma, wa kwanza ni King Kiba ni mtoto wa Kigoma,tunamwita aje ashuhudie jinsi mama alivyo ujenga pale Kigoma, wa pili, Diamond Platnumz, na wasanii wengine,” he added.
He added that they are also in talks with other popular Tanzanian musicians, including Marioo and Mbosso, to join the line-up for the event.
“List ya wasanii, watoto wote wa Kigoma watakuwepo pale,lakini tuko na maongezi na Mario,Mbosso wote waje,” Baba Levo added.
The planned appearance has generated excitement among fans, as Diamond Platnumz and Ali Kiba are regarded as two of Tanzania’s biggest music stars.
Although they have shared stages at major national events in the past, their performances often attract significant public interest due to their long-standing musical rivalry.

The planned performance comes months after Diamond, in April 2026, opened the door to a music partnership with Ali Kiba.
Speaking during an interview, Diamond admitted that he has personally reached out to his rival in the past.
“Mimi sina tatizo, kama yeye akiwa sawa tutafanya. Mimi nishawai kumuombanga [collabo] mwenyewe pia tufanye,” Diamond said.
“Yani kwa nini tusifanye, tufanye watu wangependa kuskia, dunia ingependa kuskia na itafika mbali zaidi. So mimi sina tatizo, anytime.”
