The family of late TikTok content creator Maribel Imac Irungu has confirmed that she will be cremated at the Hindu crematorium in Nyeri in line with her final wishes, with burial arrangements now officially set for Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

Speaking on behalf of the family on Saturday, May 16, 2026, Maribel’s sister Hafsa said the decision to cremate Maribel was made according to her personal request, adding that the family is now focused on honouring her wishes as they prepare for her final send-off.

Hafsa confirmed that the burial and cremation ceremony will take place next week on May 20, bringing together family members, friends, and supporters who have been following the heartbreaking news of her passing.

“Maribel’s burial has been confirmed. It will take place on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, next week,” Hafsa said.

She further revealed that the family is currently holding daily prayers and meetings at their home in Kiandu, Nyeri, starting from 3:30 p.m. each day as they prepare spiritually and emotionally for the burial.

“We are holding daily prayers and meetings every day from 3:30 in Nyeri, Kiandu, at our home,” she added.

According to Hafsa, the cremation at the Hindu crematorium marks an important part of fulfilling Maribel’s final wishes, as the family seeks to respect her decisions while giving her a dignified farewell.

“Maribel is going to be cremated at the Hindu crematorium in Nyeri as per her request and wishes,” she clarified.

She also expressed gratitude to Kenyans and well-wishers who have continued to support the family during this difficult period, thanking them for their messages, prayers, and kindness following Maribel’s death.

Hafsa then asked for continued prayers and support as they make final preparations ahead of the burial ceremony next week, which is expected to draw attention from across the online community that followed Maribel’s journey.

“So inshallah, and thank you so much to everyone who has supported us. Thank you so much for the kindness. We are really grateful to you guys,” Hafsa said.

Untimely demise

Maribel, a bipolar disorder warrior, died on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

Her demise was first shared on social media by TikToker Lady Jacqueline, who revealed that she was among the first people to receive confirmation of the TikTok star’s passing from the family.

She said she received the news through WhatsApp messages and, later, a direct phone call from a family member of Maribel Imac at around 6 pm.

According to her, the family member confirmed that Maribel had sadly passed away, a revelation that left her shocked and deeply emotional as she sought further clarification on what had happened.

“Maribel’s demise was first communicated to me by the family. At around 6 pm, I received a phone call from a family member, and before that, there were WhatsApp messages,” she said.

She explained that the family member disclosed that Maribel had been struggling with attempts to end her life before she eventually succeeded.

Lady Jacqueline expressed her sorrow over the tragic development, saying she was truly sorry to fellow TikTokers and everyone affected by the loss.

“The family member then confirmed that Maribel had passed away. I asked what happened, and she told me that Maribel had been trying to end her life and that she finally succeeded. I am really sorry to TikTokers,” Lady Jacqueline said.
