Tanzanian influencer Godlove Mwakibete, popularly known as Chief Godlove, has declared Nairobi the capital of Africa after his supermarket shopping, which could have cost him a paltry Tsh1 million (approximately Ksh50,000) in Tanzania, totalled to Tsh10 million (approximately Ksh600,000) in Nairobi.

Speaking in a video shared on his TikTok page on Saturday, January 24, 2026, Chief shared his astonishment at the prices of everyday items in Nairobi, including body lotion, sunscreen, food items, and drinks.

“All the people living in Nairobi, this city is truly the capital of Africa and they deserve to be shown a lot of respect. Yesterday, I went to a supermarket in Kenya and bought just a few items, but the bill came to Tsh10 million (around Ksh600,000),” he said.

He explained that even with just a few purchases, the bill was significantly higher than what he would have expected back home.

“I was so surprised because the items were only body lotion, sunscreen, a few food items, and drinks. Imagine that Ksh600,000 is for just a few items. In Tanzania, the same items would have cost at most Tsh1 million,” he shared.

The self-proclaimed billionaire and spiritual healer revealed that despite the high cost, he was impressed by the quality and variety of goods, noting that his car boot was filled with purchases that would have cost far less in Tanzania.

He emphasised that the experience highlighted how Kenya is ahead in terms of economic progress and the value of money, prompting him to crown Nairobi the capital of Africa.

“The items filled my car boot, but here in Nairobi, money clearly has more value. I appreciate that, and I feel this is the city where people who have money should live. I do not think I will move out because I have loved it. You have to spend money to make more money; that is my advice,” he said.

The influencer expressed admiration for Nairobi residents, stating that people living in the city, especially those with financial means, deserved respect for navigating life in such an expensive and thriving environment.

He added that the shopping experience had strengthened his appreciation for Kenya’s economy and lifestyle opportunities.

“I feel this is the city where people who have money should live. I do not think I will move out because I have loved it. You have to spend money to make more money, that is my advice,” he said.

Chief also offered advice to his followers, noting that spending wisely and embracing opportunities in cities like Nairobi could lead to greater wealth creation.

He added that he had grown fond of the city and would continue to explore its potential, praising Kenya as a country that rewards ambition and financial foresight.

“Please imagine spending Tsh10 million in a supermarket. Friends, we must go out and look for opportunities to make money. I know many of you in Dar es Salaam are proud of yourselves, but no, wait until you experience Kenya,” he shared.
