Mammito: Real love should set you free, not consume you

Kenyan comedian and content creator Eunice Wanjiru Njoki, popularly known as Mammito, has shared her thoughts on love, saying a healthy relationship should allow people to grow without losing themselves.
In a post shared on her Instagram page on Sunday, September 13, 2026, Mammito reflected on the kind of love she believes people should look for, touching on the importance of finding the right people and remaining confident in who they are.
Her remarks come as she continues to navigate motherhood while keeping much of her personal life away from the public eye.
Mammito on finding the right people
Mammito compared finding the right people in life to finding one’s faith, noting that meaningful relationships should bring freedom and personal growth rather than make someone feel trapped.
She explained that love should not take away a person’s identity or force them to sacrifice themselves to keep a relationship going.
“Finding your people is like finding your religion. Love shouldn’t be intoxicating. Love should free you and grow you and let you be confident. Love doesn’t need you to sacrifice yourself; it lets you bloom,” she wrote.
She then added a playful line in her usual style, writing, “Wewe ni ka bougainvillea.”
For Mammito, the message was less about perfect relationships and more about finding a connection where both people can remain themselves while supporting each other.
Mammito reflects on love through comedy
The comedian also connected her thoughts on relationships to her work as a stand-up comedian.
Mammito has often used personal experiences and everyday situations as material for her comedy, turning moments of happiness, heartbreak and change into jokes that her audience can relate to.
Reflecting on how love has featured in her own creative journey, she said she had experienced writing from different emotional places.
“I’ve written jokes in pain and I’ve written jokes in love, and let me tell you, Maina, love wins!” she said.
The statement comes at a time when Mammito has entered a different chapter of her life, having become a mother while continuing to build her career in entertainment.
Mammito and her child
Mammito welcomed her first child, a baby girl, on March 26, 2025. She announced the arrival on social media with a photo of herself breastfeeding her newborn in hospital.
Her pregnancy had also been part of her public journey, with the comedian using humour to document different moments before welcoming her child.
Despite sharing parts of the experience with her fans, Mammito initially chose not to reveal the identity of her child’s father. She previously said the father was not in the entertainment industry and that she appreciated having a partner who preferred to remain away from the spotlight.
Mammito and her baby daddy
Mammito’s decision to keep her relationship private led to curiosity among fans, especially after the birth of her daughter.
In June 2025, she shared photos with a man while wishing him a Happy Father’s Day, prompting further interest in the identity of her child’s father. Months later, on her 32nd birthday in September 2025, Mammito publicly shared photos of herself with her baby daddy and also showed her daughter’s face for the first time.
The move marked a change from the privacy she had maintained during her pregnancy and the early months of motherhood.
Mammito had previously been in a relationship with fellow comedian Eddie Butita, with the two later going their separate ways. In an interview in 2026, she spoke about the breakup and said she had been single for some time.
