Mammito opens up on being labelled crazy while building comedy career
Comedian and digital content creator Eunice Wanjiru, widely known as Mammito, has opened up on being labelled “crazy” as she continues to build her comedy career, saying the perception has been one of the biggest challenges she has faced.
The comedian, who is known for her comedy skits on social media, explained that many people struggle to separate her stage persona from her real life. She said this has affected how people view her abilities beyond comedy.
“As a woman, one thing I have had to overcome while doing all this is that people view me as a crazy woman, not seen as, oh, she can do this and still do these things,” Mammito said on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
She explained that the label has made it hard for some people to take her seriously. She said many assume that her creativity limits her in other areas of life. She added that this mindset has been slowly changing over time.

“But that perception is slowly changing,” Mammito said.
Changing views in the creative space
Mammito said more young people are now joining the creative industry, which is helping shift how society views artists. She explained that as more talent emerges, people are starting to understand that art is a real career. She added that this change is making it easier for creatives to be respected.

“Because the more people get to witness right now, there are more younger people coming up and wanting to do art,” she said.
She also noted that parents are beginning to notice their children’s talents at an early stage. She explained that families are now more open to supporting careers in music, dance, and other forms of art. She said this is different from the past, when such paths were not widely accepted.
“And now you can see there people who have kids that are artists, and they can now notice, oh my kids love to sing. Or my kid loves to dance,” Mammito said.
Mammito added that the success of creatives is also helping change opinions. She said people are now seeing artists achieve financial stability and a good lifestyle. She explained that visible success is making others view art as a proper job.
“And yeah, and also they can see other people who are now in art, have big cars, the definition of success, they have big cars, they have a house,” she said.
